BCS Rankings Week 13: 10 Ranked Teams Most Likely To Lose This Weekend
The top seven teams remained the same in the BCS poll this week, with the Oregon Ducks still sitting atop the rankings, followed by Auburn, TCU, Boise State and LSU to round out the top five.
Despite a commanding win over Fresno State, Boise State still couldn't manage to jump TCU, a team that didn't play this week.
Oregon and Auburn also had the week off, each team gearing up for matchups against ranked teams this week.
With two weeks remaining in the regular season, everyone will be watching to see if any of the top teams slip up. Let's take a look at ten BCS ranked teams most likely to lose this weekend.
10. Ohio State (vs. Michigan)
1 of 10
This year's version of "The Game" will feature two very athletic quarterbacks in Michigan's Denard Robinson and Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor.
Pryor is the better pure passer while Robinson has the advantage when it comes to scrambling. In fact, Robinson broke the single season rushing record for quarterbacks last week.
While Robinson's play has been erratic at times this season, costing the Wolverines in some big games, he is able to take over a game at any given time. If he manages to protect the football this weekend, the Wolverines could pull off an unlikely upset.
9. Utah (vs. BYU)
2 of 10
Utah has struggled the past three weeks, but they did manage to pull off a fourth quarter comeback last week against a very tough San Diego State team.
But, in the two weeks prior to that, they scored only 10 points total in losses to TCU and Notre Dame.
So, which Utah team will show up this week? The team that played tough against San Diego State, or the team that laid down against Notre Dame?
8. Michigan State (at Penn State)
3 of 10
The Spartans nearly lost to a horrible Purdue team last week. That was a surprising lapse considering the fact that they are playing for a possible Big Ten title every week.
The team wasn't focused and it almost cost them dearly. This week, they'll be playing for a win and rooting for Northwestern to pull off an upset against Wisconsin (not going to happen).
But, if they play the way they did last week, they'll be the ones who are upset.
7. Texas A&M (at Texas)
4 of 10
Wide receiver turned quarterback Ryan Tannehill managed to do just enough to lead his team to an impressive 9-6 upset of Nebraska last week.
The Aggies have taken off ever since Tannehill started taking snaps at QB after a loss to Missouri. They've gone 5-0 in the last five weeks, knocking off Oklahoma in addition to Nebraska.
But, when it comes to a rivalry game with Texas, anything can happen. Plus, the Longhorns will be fighting to become bowl eligible.
6. Florida State (vs. Florida)
5 of 10
Despite beating Miami (FL) earlier this year, the Seminoles have been bottom feeders, beating bad teams and losing to good teams.
So, what will happen this week when Florida, a mediocre SEC team, comes to town?
The Seminoles could really use the win to get into a better bowl game, but the Gators will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss to South Carolina. This could be the recipe for an upset.
5. Auburn (at Alabama)
6 of 10
I like Alabama in this game. Even though Auburn is coming off a bye week, the game is in Tuscaloosa and the Tide will be looking for a signature win to try to sneak into a BCS bowl game.
This will be a tough test for Auburn QB Cam Newton and it will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure of a Nick Saban defense.
Could we see the Tigers fall, opening the door for TCU or Boise State to make it to the BCS Championship Game? We'll find out on Friday.
4. Oklahoma (at Oklahoma State)
7 of 10
The Sooners picked up their first conference road win last week when they dismantled the Baylor Bears by a score of 53-24.
Now they go on the road again to Oklahoma State for the Bedlam rivalry game. The key to this game will be whether or not Oklahoma can stop Justin Blackmon. He's had over 100 yards receiving and at least one touchdown in every game he's played this year.
So, with that being said, I don't like Oklahoma's chances of containing him.
3. Arkansas (vs. LSU)
8 of 10
LSU has one of the best defenses in the country. Their weak spot has always been offense, but even that seems to be coming around of late.
That doesn't bode well for Arkansas, a team that tends to struggle in big games. Ryan Mallett has been inconsistent from the quarterback position all year, and LSU has Patrick Peterson, one of the best cornerbacks in college football.
Unless Arkansas' defense has a huge day, there's no way they can pull off the upset.
2. Arizona (at Oregon)
9 of 10
Arizona has lost their last two games and now they have to go on the road to play Oregon. That is a recipe for disaster.
Arizona will lose this game and drop out of the BCS rankings, adding even more disappointment to what looked like a promising year for the Wildcats.
1. Nevada (vs. Boise State)
10 of 10
Boise State thoroughly dismantled a tough Fresno State team last week, allowing zero points while scoring 51 of their own.
Another big win this week should vault them over TCU in the BCS standings. I expect Coach Petersen to have his troops motivated and ready to take down the last ranked team on their schedule.
Another 51-0 victory would force the BCS committee to take a long hard look at whether or not the Broncos deserve a shot at the national title.
