Is Cedric Reed Ditching Mack Brown's Texas Longhorns for the Texas A&M Aggies?
Cedric Reed, the University of Texas' defensive end recruit from the state of Texas, is blue-chip all the way.
Followers of college football recruiting know that it’s ultimately a momentum game and results on the recruiting trail are inexorably linked with results on the field. That’s why it was probably only a matter of time before the Texas Longhorns’ catastrophic 2010 football season threatened to spill off the gridiron and into the living room.
The big recruiting story of the weekend revolves around Reed's UT commitment (which to many, seems somewhat tenuous) and his decision to make the trip with his father yesterday to College Station for the Nebraska game.
Conflicting stories have emerged surrounding the circumstances of the visit, including whether the the UT coaches were notified beforehand and whether Cedric and his father met with A&M coaches after the game.
Various recruiting services have been in contact with the elder Reed and reported differing versions of the story.
Mack Brown’s policy on commitment visits to other schools is prohibitive and has led to the revocation of more than one scholarship offer in the past.
So, what does this mean for Cedric Reed’s future as a Texas commitment? Where does it leave Texas at DE if he ends up in Aggieland? Who would Texas go after to replace him? WTF does hullabaloo caneck caneck mean?
