BCS Bowl Projections Week 13: Which 10 Teams Get the Coveted BCS Bowl Bids?
Time to change it up a little more.
This weekend's slate of college football games produced more stunning results and dramatic finishes which are likely to shake up this week's BCS standings.
Michigan State and Ohio State hung on for key wins in the Big Ten, while LSU escaped with a 43-36 victory over heated rival Ole Miss. Texas A&M pulled off the biggest victory though, knocking off eighth-ranked Nebraska 9-6 in College Station.
"I was walking to chapel on Thursday, everyone was geeked up about the game, and it was kind of neat," Aggies coach Mike Sherman said following the victory. "It was uplifting for me to feel that excitement."
Will Texas A&M fans be celebrating a top-10 spot in this week's BCS rankings?
Perhaps. Based on this weekend, here are the top 10 teams that deserve BCS bowl bids:
10. Ohio State
1 of 10
The Buckeyes will drop but remain in the top 10 following their 20-17 victory over Iowa.
Dan Herron's one-yard run with 1:47 left was the game-winner for Ohio State (10-1), and kept them tied with Wisconsin and Michigan State for first in the Big Ten. Ohio State still has a shot for a share of the conference title for the sixth consecutive year.
Next up, though, is the annual showdown with rival Michigan.
9. Oklahoma
2 of 10
The Sooners (9-2) proved it again with their 53-24 win over Baylor: When they're on, they can beat anybody.
Hands down, it was their best road performance of the year, and that will give them a spot in the top 10 for now. But they must eliminate the costly mistakes and sloppy play that was evident right before halftime against the Bears.
Do that against Oklahoma State (10-1) on Saturday, and they'll get punished severely. Bedlam resumes in Stillwater, as the Sooners and Cowboys compete for the Big 12 South title.
8. Oklahoma State
3 of 10
The Cowboys (10-1) move up into Nebraska's spot after their 48-14 win over Kansas.
On paper, this year's Bedlam game with Oklahoma seems to be quite a favorable matchup for the Cowboys. They have just as many skill players, and could have had a strong chance to enter this game undefeated.
7. Wisconsin
4 of 10
The Badgers (10-1) beat Michigan 48-28, and remain in their same spot from last week.
Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema believes his team is playing better than anyone right now, and he could make a strong argument for that.
If they can beat Northwestern on Saturday, Wisconsin could get a chance to prove just how good they are if the BCS decides to match them up with Boise State or TCU.
6. Stanford
5 of 10
Cardinal fans could scream and shout and say they deserve to move up and take over LSU's spot.
They could make a valid argument, but both teams faced rivals this weekend, and those same Stanford fans would be outraged if they barely beat Cal and dropped a spot.
That wasn't the case, though. Stanford (10-1) jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead, and finished with 467 total yards in a 48-14 victory.
5. LSU
6 of 10
To all those who screamed, shouted and laughed at the Ole Miss game not being the best game of the weekend: Want to reconsider any of that?
Stevan Ridley's seven-yard run with 44 seconds left was the difference for the Tigers (10-1), who escaped with a 43-36 victory over their rivals and now travel north to play Arkansas in the Battle of the Boot.
4. Boise State
7 of 10
Another week, another thorough domination by the Broncos (10-0). Yawn.
Up next is a matchup with No.18 Nevada on Friday. Which will be more exciting: Watching this game, or the chance at enjoying Thanksgiving leftovers?
3. TCU
8 of 10
The Horned Frogs (11-0) had an off week, and coach Gary Patterson spent his time hopping from one ESPN program to another, singing the Frogs' praises.
It's back to the grind now, as TCU closes out Mountain West play at New Mexico (1-10).
2. Auburn
9 of 10
Auburn (11-0) had an off week, and now prepares to face Alabama (9-2) in the Iron Bowl.
Questions still loom about Tigers quarterback Cam Newton, and the heat only seems to be intensifying. Can anyone imagine the backlash that would follow if Auburn goes on to win the national championship, but it's stripped from them??
1. Oregon
10 of 10
The Ducks (10-0) return to play this Friday against Arizona (7-3).
Oregon coach Chip Kelly made his players off-limits to the media last week following their 15-13 victory over Cal. Did that move help, and will the Ducks return to form against the Wildcats?
For now, Oregon stays at No.1 unless Auburn dominates Alabama.
