Derick Rose, Chicago Bulls Dominate Golden State Warriors, 120-90

Kelly ScalettaNov 11, 2010

The revamped Chicago Bulls have been showing signs of promise through the preseason and the regular season. Tonight, at the expense of the Golden State Warriors, things seemed to really gel, as the Bulls dominated throughout the night, essentially winning the game in the first half. The result was a 120-90 win.

Derrick Rose led the charge, scoring 18 points and handing out 8 assists in the first half alone. Before the end of the game, he would have 22 points and 13 assists. Luol Deng added 26 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Joakim Noah contributed 17 points, 7 boards and 5 assists, failing to record a double-double for the first time this season. The failure was as much an issue of an early seat because of the score as anything else though.

Taj Gibson added in 14 points and 7 boards and Keith Bogans contributed 14 points and 6 steals, as all five starters reached double figures for the second straight game.

Virtually every aspect of the game was completely dominated by the Bulls, who overcame their foul problems, both in terms of missing their own free throws and giving away too many free throw opportunities. Offensively, they were 19 of 21 from the free throw line. Defensively they only committed seven fouls as a team,\ and only gave up 7 free throw opportunities.

Overall 29 of their 46 field goals were assisted. Luol Deng said in the post game interview, "We have a team that moves the ball really well...when we move the ball we're going to win the game." It seems to be the mindset of the Tom Thibodeau offense.

Passing was the theme of the night, whether it was some brilliant passes in the paint by Joakim Noah, the passes set up by Rose driving and kicking or just some very crisp ball movement. Yet defensively the Bulls were just as impressive as they were on offense, particularly in the second quarter, when the Bulls held Golden State to 2 points and no field goals over four and a half minute period, and just six points over six minutes. The Bulls also had 16 steals and 10 blocks.

The Bulls also had a season high 37 fast break points to the Warriors' 20 and outscored Golden State in the paint 58-44. They even matched the Warriors in threes, as the teams hit seven apiece. Considering how these were persistent problems last season, it's good to see Chicago consistently winning these battles, particularly in the paint.

It was, in short, domination on both ends of the court. As the team continues to learn one another and learn the system, it really has to leave Bulls fans anticipating the future of the team when the newly signed Carlos Boozer makes his inaugural appearance.
