BCS Rankings Week 11: Top 10 Upset Picks To Make the BCS Even Messier

Tom KinslowNov 11, 2010

BCS rankings Week 11 edition have been out for sometime and this weekend, like every weekend in the BCS, could drastically shake up the rankings when they come out this Sunday night.

Inside are 10 upsets that would really shake up the BCS some more and send some teams moving up and some moving down that you might not expect. If you have any upset picks this week in college football, let's hear them.

Any other thoughts? Let's hear those as well.

No. 10: South Carolina

South Carolina is right on the verge of a trip to the SEC Championship game and all that stands in its way is Florida.

Sure, the Gamecocks just lost to Arkansas pretty badly and they've never won in Florida and lost by 50 the last time out, but this is a desperate team, and I think South Carolina is going to find a way to get the job done and walk away with a victory.

This win would likely be bigger than the win over Alabama earlier this year.

No. 9: Kansas State

Missouri is in the middle of a two game losing streak and I think Kansas State has the chance to sneak up and make it three in a row.

Since that big win over Oklahoma, the Tigers have struggled, losing to Nebraska and Texas Tech. Kansas State is no slouch and the Wildcats are more than capable of beating the Tigers this weekend. Just ask Texas, who caught the business from Kansas State last week.

The Tigers are slumping and I wouldn't be shocked to still see them in a funk on Saturday.

No. 8: Texas Tech

Look, Oklahoma is a good team, but Texas Tech isn't a pushover either.

After a bad loss against Texas A&M, it wouldn't shock me to see Texas Tech come in and give the Sooners a run for their money. The Red Raiders did just beat Missouri last week and should have plenty of confidence coming into this one.

Confidence is always the biggest key to an upset. If Texas Tech can believe early, it could get interesting.

No. 7: Indiana

Indiana gave Iowa all it could handle last week and really should have won that game.

The Hoosiers dropped the game winning touchdown pass and it would have been a huge upset and a big win for the program, which is usually buried towards the bottom of the Big Ten. Now Indiana has to take on Wisconsin, who also struggled last week.

I think Indiana knows it was close and goes for the kill this weekend.

No. 6: Mississippi State

Mississippi State takes on Alabama in a big SEC clash this weekend and don't sleep on the Bulldogs.

Sure, the game is in Alabama and the Crimson Tide are going to be motivated after losing last week, but I think Mississippi State has a good chance to pull off the upset this weekend. It won't be easy, but a win in the SEC never is.

Look for a big-time battle this weekend.

No. 5: Northwestern

Just because Northwestern lost to Penn State this past weekend, it doesn't mean the Wildcats are a pushover.

The Nittany Lions are a well-coached team that was playing at home and trying to earn Joe Paterno's 400th win as a head coach. That's hard to overcome for any team yet Northwestern had a chance to put that game away early.

Iowa struggled against Indiana last week and could be ripe for an upset.

No. 4: Baylor

7 of 10
WACO, TX - NOVEMBER 14: Running back Jarred Salubi #21 of the Baylor Bears carries the ball during in the second half against defensive end Alex Okafor #80 and safety Blake Gideon #21 of the Texas Longhorns on November 14, 2009 at Floyd Casey Stadium in

Just because Baylor lost to Oklahoma State last week and fell out of the Top 25, it doesn't mean the Bears can't get it done.

Baylor takes on Texas A&M this weekend and I think the Bears get back into the BCS with a win this weekend over the Aggies. Baylor is the type of team that will hang around and make just enough plays to win the game.

It's going to be a fun game to watch, that's for sure.

No. 3: North Carolina

8 of 10
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - SEPTEMBER 25: Jonathan Freeny #99 of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights attempts to block a pass from T.J. Yates #13 of the North Carolina Tar Heels during a game at Rutgers Stadium on September 25, 2010 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. (Photo

North Carolina, despite all that's happened around the program this year, has found a way to hang around in football games.

The Tar Heels take on Virginia Tech this weekend and I just have a feeling that North Carolina is going to sneak up and beat the Hokies on Saturday. This Tech team hasn't been strong and the start to the season really doomed Virginia Tech.

However, the Hokies still have a shot at the ACC title and a BCS bowl bid, but North Carolina is going to be a handful.

No. 2: Texas

9 of 10
LINCOLN, NE - OCTOBER 16: Quarterback Garrett Gilbert #7 of the Texas Longhorns during first half action of their game at Memorial Stadium on October 16, 2010 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Texas Defeated Nebraska 20-13. (Photo by Eric Francis/Getty Images)

Okay, so this year hasn't gone the way a lot of people, especially the fans of the Longhorns, thought it would go, but I like Texas this week.

Oklahoma State just got a big win over Baylor and now have to head to Austin to take on the Longhorns and I think Texas rises up and gets a big win this weekend. I know it's a stretch, but it's just a feeling I have. Pride has to take over at some point.

Mack Brown needs a win here badly to help save some of the season.

No. 1: USC

10 of 10
LOS ANGELES, CA - OCTOBER 30: Matt Barkley #7 of the USC Trojans rolls out of the pocket against the Oregon Ducks at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on October 30, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)

USC is no pushover this year, despite its record and taking on Arizona, I think the Trojans get the job done this weekend.

Matt Barkley is having one heck of a season and I think that offense is going to be able to have a lot of success on Saturday night. However, it's really up to that defense to get the job done. It's struggled at times this year and needs to play better.

It should be a very entertaining game to watch in the Pac-10.
