NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Who Is the Latest Team to Take the Top Spot?

Ethan NorofNov 9, 2010

New York Jets: 6-2, T-First AFC East

QB Mark Sanchez looks like a different man than last season and, despite the team’s last two victories coming by the thinnest of margins, good teams find ways to finish games.

New York Giants: 6-2, First NFC East

The defense is back with a vengeance and the offensive attack looks as potent as ever.

New England Patriots: 6-2, T-First AFC East

Despite the drubbing at the hands of the Browns, Coach Belichick always seems to figure out a way to win, regardless of the personnel on the field.

Atlanta Falcons: 6-2, First NFC South

The Falcons are looking to prove that they are the team to beat in the NFC South and they’re doing a very convincing job.

Pittsburgh Steelers: 6-2, T-First AFC North

Maybe the new defensive rules are affecting them more than they’d like to believe.

Baltimore Ravens: 6-2, First AFC North

The defense looks to be getting stronger as the season progresses and the team continues to get healthier on the offensive side.

Philadelphia Eagles: 5-3, Second NFC East

With Vick under center, the Eagles look like a team that can compete with just about any other. He’s yet to throw an interception in 154 attempts.

Green Bay Packers: 6-3, First NFC North

Despite the injuries on both sides of the ball, the Packers are beginning to resemble the Super Bowl contender that many made projected them to be.

New Orleans Saints: 6-3, Second NFC South

After narrowly squeaking by the Panthers in their first matchup, New Orleans dominated the second time around and that Super Bowl defense appears to be back in a big way.

Indianapolis Colts: 5-3, T-First AFC South

With the injuries beginning to catch up (Collie, Clark, Addai, Sanders), the Colts find themselves in a vulnerable position.

Tennessee Titans: 5-3, T-First AFC South

The only thing that changes during the bye week is the addition of Randy Moss, and that’s one heck of a change.

Oakland Raiders: 5-4, Second AFC West

After winning the most important KC-OAK matchup since the late 1980s, the Raiders are officially in the postseason discussion and 3-0 in the division.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 5-3, Third NFC South

They might not be the best team in the NFC, but they’re certainly on the rise.

Unfortunately, they play in a very competitive division.

Kansas City Chiefs: 5-3, First AFC West

The Chiefs are looking to rebound after a tough loss to Oakland, but they should remain atop the AFC West so long as they continue to run effectively.

San Diego Chargers: 4-5, Third AFC West

Notoriously slow starters, the Chargers are looking like they could creep back into contention before too long.

Cleveland Browns: 3-5, Third AFC North

Eric Mangini has this team believing in their ability and it showed with a big victory against the Pats.

Houston Texans: 4-4, T-Third, AFC South

The Texans started off the season strongly, but have really faltered lately despite the strong play of RB Arian Foster.

Miami Dolphins: 4-4, Third AFC East

The Dolphins finally lost one on the road and QB Chad Henne isn’t exactly inspiring much confidence among the team’s fans.

Chicago Bears: 5-3, Second NFC North

After barely getting by the winless Bills, the Bears are officially the worst five-win team in the league.

Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-4, T-Third AFC South

This is the definition of a very mediocre, middle-of-the-road team.

St. Louis Rams: 4-4, T-First NFC West

It doesn’t seem to matter who is playing wide receiver for QB Sam Bradford as he leads the much-improved Rams.

Minnesota Vikings: 3-5, Third NFC North

Coach Brad Childress has no handle on this team, but thankfully he has three guys named: Favre, Harvin and All Day.

Washington Redskins: 4-4, Third NFC East

Pulling Donovan McNabb in favor of Rex Grossman? Perhaps Coach Shanahan used the bye week to straighten a few things out.

Hopefully.

Seattle Seahawks: 4-4, T-First NFC West

Seahawks fans had all of their complaints validated about QB Charlie Whitehurst in the first 15 minutes of Sunday’s games.

Arizona Cardinals: 3-5, Third NFC West

QB Derek Anderson hasn’t been as terrible as advertised, but without a prolific ground game, he’s got no shot at success.

Cincinnati Bengals: 2-6, Fourth AFC North

It’s only a matter of time before Carson Palmer’s receivers call him out in another place besides the sideline.

Detroit Lions: 2-6, Fourth NFC North

The Lions look like a very good team with QB Matt Stafford under center, but he’s had a lot of trouble staying on the field.

San Francisco 49ers: 2-6, Fourth NFC West

The 49ers are hoping that QB Troy Smith is more than just a stopgap at the position, so at least we know they’re an optimistic bunch.

Denver Broncos: 2-6, Fourth AFC West

Perhaps the bye week was more courteous to the Broncos than the Raiders’ treatment of them.

Buffalo Bills: 0-8, Fourth AFC East

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has the Bills playing much better than the record indicates, but this team has more issues than most.

Dallas Cowboys: 1-7, Fourth NFC East

There are no words to describe what is going on in Big D.

Carolina Panthers: 1-7, Fourth NFC South

If Jimmy Clausen can’t get it done, the Panthers will turn to Tony Pike at the position. Yeesh.
