Randy Moss, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and The Best YouTube Sports Clips

Mike OsterbergNov 2, 2010

Randy Moss, the former Minnesota Viking, has been all over the headlines despite having only 22 catches this season.

The former New England Patriot has had a tumultuous season off the field, but he has had the luxury of catching five touchdown passes from Tom Brady and Brett Favre on the field.

Those five touchdowns spark memories of a time when Moss was the most unstoppable force in the National Football League.

As a young stud with the Vikings, he was simply impossible to cover. He put together highlight reels that were among the most amazing of all time with punt returns, reverses and fade routes.

In honor of the most electrifying receiver ever to play the game, here are 10 of the best YouTube sports clips.

10. Steve Nash

1 of 10

Steve Nash is one of the most gifted and creative passers of his generation. His combination of court vision and quick hands allow him to throw passes that most can only dream about.

This video showcases his great passing skills, with an emphasis on this precise alley-oops that he has been so good at throwing. Guys like Amar'e Stoudemire and Shawn Marion have benefited greatly from his amazing ability.

While much of the video focuses on his assists, there are portions that are devoted to his unique ability to drive to the rim. He's not a particularly big player, so he needs to rely on angles off the glass and a combination of head fakes and crossovers to slash to the basket. Some of these buckets are simply breathtaking.

Of course, you can't mention Steve Nash without talking about his great range. This video includes a few of his trademark rainbows that get nothing but net.

9. Dirk Nowitzki

This video has its embedding feature disabled, but it would be a crime not to include this highlight package. Sure it's nearly 10 minutes long, but it's worth every second.

Dirk Nowitzki's dominance is on full display here. This clip is filled with Dirk's signature spot up threes, fadeaway jumpers, and slashes to the basket.

Most people forget how good he is at getting to the rim because he is often content to take a jumper. This video will remind everyone just how good Dirk is at getting to the cup and scoring.

Much of the video focuses on Dirk's 2006 playoff run with the Dallas Mavericks. It's one of the most well-edited and entertaining sports clips on YouTube, and the 10-minute run time will fly by. It's definitely worth a watch.

8. FIFA Best Goals Ever

3 of 10

This video is the definitive compilation of impressive soccer goals. Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona and Pele are all included in this astonishing highlight package.

The most impressive goals include Roberto Carlos netting a free kick that defies physics and Clarence Seedorf scoring from near half with a shot that you could hang laundry on. Those are just two of some of the most mind-blowing goals that this video has to offer.

The quality isn't great, but it's a short clip at under five minutes and it's definitely worth watching.

7. NBA Blocks

4 of 10

Blocking a shot is one of the most athletic moves a basketball player can make. It requires that the blocker anticipate the shooter's next move and use his athletic ability to jump high enough to make the stop.

This video brings the old and the new together. Players like big men Charles Barkley and David Robinson are shown alongside modern day perimeter block artists like Dwayne Wade and Kobe Bryant.

Some of the more impressive highlights to look for include Michael Jordan using great anticipation to swat the much larger Patrick Ewing and the late Manute Bol blocking four consecutive shots.

It's a great video with an appropriate soundtrack; at only four minutes and change, it's a quick watch that will leave you with your jaw on the floor.

6. NFL Greatest Hits

5 of 10

I know, the soundtrack is grating and annoying, but this video simply needed to be included. It features an astounding array of violent collisions and hits that undoubtedly would irk Roger Goodell.

Most of the clips are from back when concussions were still good for you, but nonetheless, it's interesting to see some of the old school players dishing out hits like you read about.

Dick Butkus, Ronnie Lott and Lawrence Taylor all make cameos in this collection of devastating hits. Some highlights to watch for include vicious clotheslines and amazing helicoptering tackles.

These hits are artifacts of a bygone era, and watching them will make you realize what analysts like Mike Ditka and Tom Jackson are talking about when they refer to "their time."

5. Larry Bird

6 of 10

"Larry Bird is so good, it's frightening" - Magic Johnson

You can't say it any better than that. This guy was incredibly talented. Some of the plays he makes defy all logic and reason, but he was simply the best shooter to ever live.

It didn't matter where he was on the court, who was covering him, or how much time was on the clock. Bird just made buckets.

While he was a gifted shooter, this video also highlights his impressive creativity. He threw some of the most exciting passes and probably even caught his teammates off guard more than a few times.

On top of all that, he was the ultimate hustle player. He would dive for balls and sky for rebounds he had no business getting to.

The soundtrack, "Sing For the Moment" by Eminem, is a great choice and it really adds to the drama that this video has to offer.

4. Tracy McGrady: 13 Points in 35 Seconds

7 of 10

On Dec. 12, 2004, the San Antonio Spurs should have beaten the Houston Rockets.

Enter Tracy McGrady.

He put on a performance that was simply incredible. The most amazing part was that after the steal and with time winding down, instead of going in for the deuce and tying the game, T-Mac confidently pulled up and won the game with a three.

It's videos like this one that make you remember just how good McGrady was. If not for injuries derailing his career, he may still have been making plays like this to this day.

3. Kobe Bryant: Lord Of Destruction

8 of 10

This video, like the Dirk Nowitzki highlight reel, is one of the most well-edited videos on YouTube. Kobe Bryant's full array of skills are on display in this six minute clip.

It was uploaded on March 5, 2006, so there are no highlights from the most recent seasons.

That being said, it should not dissuade viewership because Kobe has been putting on shows since 1996. There is plenty of amazing material to fill the video.

Devastating crossovers, fadeaway jumpers, precision passing, and high flying dunks are all set to an interesting soundtrack of dramatic choir music. It's a great video and one of the best on the Internet.

2. Jason Williams

9 of 10

Sure, he turned the ball over too much and was a nightmare for coaches, but there's no denying the fact that Jason Williams was one of the most creative passers of all time.

He eventually stopped rolling the dice so much and became just another point guard in the NBA, but his first couple of years in the league were dominated by amazing no-look passes and made-you-look head fakes.

Williams was one of the most exciting players to watch when he played with this style and flair. This video captures some of the best passing of the past 15 years and there will be more than a couple plays that will leave you speechless.

1. Randy Moss

10 of 10

It's highlights like these that remind us why teams continually take chances on Randy Moss. The fact is, when he's happy, he's the most dominant force in football. While recent weeks may have us doubting that, it's important to remember just how good this guy was.

His combination of blinding speed, leaping ability and enormous hands made Moss uncoverable. It may be curious that he's so wide open on many of these deep balls, but that's not because teams weren't double and triple teaming him; it's because Moss was simply too fast to keep up with.

The D'Angelo Hall anecdote that opens the video is particularly entertaining, and it speaks volumes about just how fast Moss is. Hall has won competitions that named him the fastest player in the NFL, and Moss ran by him like he was standing still.

Every time you wonder why Moss is given chance after chance, just watch this video and see the greatness that every team wants in their colors.

Well, every team but the Vikings.
