
English Premier League Power Rankings Week 10
This week in the English Premier League there was plenty of opportunity to move up or down the table for teams in the middle of the standings.
Only one match, the Birmingham derby, ended in a draw.
The top two clubs Chelsea and Arsenal survived scares and scored late goals to keep pace with each other.
Chelsea is still five points up in the table over Arsenal and third place Manchester United.
20. Blackburn (19)

Blackburn did hold the lead for 13 minutes at Ewood Park against Chelsea on Saturday thanks to Benjani's 21st minute goal.
But, Rovers were not able to hold to lead and lost 2-1 to the first place squad.
A home match with Wigan on Saturday is up next for Sam Allardyce and company.
19. West Ham (17)

West Ham also played a close game with a top of the table opponent in Arsenal but fell to a late Alex Song goal.
The Hammers have also suffered a loss to their team with Mark Noble sidelined for a month after having his appendix taken out.
A road trip to Birmingham in what could be a relegation battle awaits on Saturday.
18. Wigan (14)

Only three shots on goal were managed by the Latics on Saturday in their 2-0 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Wigan now stand only one point above the drop zone with 10 points.
A relegation battle at Ewood Park with Blackburn is the next game for the club.
17. Wolverhampton (20)

Wolves pulled off a big upset at the Molineux Stadium Saturday by taking down Manchester City by the score of 2-1.
Nenad Milijas and David Edwards scored for Mick McCarthy's club to give Wolves the big home win and a positive momentum boost going into Old Trafford on Saturday.
16. Stoke (13)

Stoke fell flat in their road loss to Everton on the weekend.
No shots on goal were managed by the Potters in their 1-0 loss.
A trip to the Stadium of Light on Saturday awaits the 16th place club on Saturday.
15. Blackpool (18)

Blackpool were on the winning end of a crazy game at Bloomfield Road Monday night.
The Seasiders played with a two-man advantage for most of the game and yet West Brom almost score an equalizer.
Charlie Adam's 12th minute penalty and Luke Varney's 62nd minute goal gave Blackpool a 2-0 lead, but after giving up a goal to the visitors, they almost gave up a second.
Fortuneately, a 2-1 win was the result and it skyrocketed the Seasiders to ninth in the EPL table on 13 points.
14. Sunderland (6)

Sunderland took a thrashing in the Tyne-Wear derby, losing 5-1 to Newcastle.
Darren Bent's 90th minute goal put the Black Cats on the scoreboard but it still was nothing close to how their rivals performed on Sunday.
Now in 12th place in the table, Sunderland host Stoke before matches against Spurs and Chelsea in their next few matches.
13. Aston Villa (12)

The Birmingham derby resulted in a 0-0 draw for Aston Villa.
A big blow came to the Villians this week as captain Stiliyan Petrov was declared out for three months with a tear in his partial medial ligament.
Up next is a trip to Craven Cottage for Gerard Houllier's club.

Birmingham saw the same result in the Birmingham derby that they saw in two previous matches this season, a 0-0 draw.
The Blues have a chance to regain form with West Ham and Stoke in the next two matches on the schedule.
11. Fulham (16)

American Clint Dempsey scored a double for Fulham in a fairly easy 2-0 win over Wigan at home.
The 30th and 44th minute goals for Dempsey doubled his tally for the season and put Fulham up to 10th in the EPL table with 12 points.
Aston Villa makes a visit to Craven Cottage on Saturday.
10. Bolton (8)

Bolton held Liverpool for 86 minutes and then were scored on at home.
A tough 1-0 loss broke the Trotters' five-game unbeaten streak.
Now in 11th place, Bolton will look to rebound with a home match against Tottenham.
9. Liverpool (15)

Maxi Rodriguez scored in the 86th minute to give Liverpool their second straight win.
Now in 13th place and climbing, Roy Hodgson's club have a chance to show what a different team they are from the start of the season with a clash with Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.
8. Manchester City (7)

In what should have been a routine trip to Wolverhampton to get a win and leave, City stumbled and lost.
Emmanuel Adebayor's 23rd minute penalty got City the lead, but they were unable to hold on to it and took a 2-1 loss to a team they should have beaten.
A trip to the Hawthorns on Sunday and the Manchester derby on Wednesday are up next for Roberto Mancini's club.
7. West Brom (3)

Disaster is an understatement on what the first half at Bloomfield Road was for Roberto di Matteo's club.
A questionable sending off of Pablo Ibanez followed by a deserved red card by Gonzalo Jara, put the Baggies down to nine men after the 29th minute.
Youssuf Mulumbu did score in the 88th minute to give some hope to the Albion cause but it was not enough.
A visit from Manchester City is next up in what could be a very crucial momentum game for West Brom.
6. Tottenham (5)

A trip to Old Trafford resulted in a 2-0 loss to Manchester United for Spurs.
There was controversy on the second goal scored by Nani, which led to Harry Redknapp to criticize referee Mark Clattenburg in the post game interview.
After a big Champions League game with Inter, Spurs will take a trip to the Reebok Stadium on Saturday to face Bolton.
5. Everton (9)

Yakubu scored his first goal of the season in Everton's 1-0 home win over Stoke on Saturday.
The Toffees are now unbeaten in their last five games and have moved up to eighth place in the table with 13 points.
A difficult trip to Bloomfield Road is up next on Saturday.
4. Newcastle (10)

In most explosive offensive outburst of the week, Newcastle won the Tyne-Wear derby 5-1 over Sunderland on Sunday.
Kevin Nolan scored a hat trick and Shola Ameobi put home two in the blowout win that put the Magpies into seventh place in the EPL table.
A big matchup with Arsenal at the Emirates is next up on Sunday for Chris Hughton's club.
3. Manchester United (4)

Nemanja Vidic's 31st minute goal and Nani's controversial 84th minute goal fueled United's 2-0 win over Spurs at Old Trafford.
Still in third place in the table, tied on points with Arsenal, United will face Wolves on Saturday before they play the Manchester derby on November 10th.

Alex Song's 88th minute goal saved Arsenal from losing points at home against West Ham on Saturday.
The next two games in the EPL should be fairly easy for the Gunners who face Newcastle and Wolves on Sunday and next Wednesday respectively.

Another week, another win for Chelsea.
This week it was a bit difficult for the Blues but thanks to a goal by Branislav Ivanovic in the 84th minute, a 2-1 win over Blackburn was clinched.
A trip to Liverpool is up next on Sunday for the Blues followed by a London derby match at home with Fulham.
