Rutgers Football: The New Jersey Nets Donate $75,000 to the Eric LeGrand Fund
In a heartwarming move amidst a heartbreaking tale, the New Jersey Nets have donated $75,000 to the Eric LeGrand Believe Fund on Monday October 24th.
Nj.com reports that Billy King, the Nets general manager, raised the money in conjunction with point guard Devin Harris’ 34 Ways to Assist Foundation.
King also went on to say that no one in the Nets organization was shy to help out, noting that players, coaches, front office personal, and team owners all contributed to make the generous donation possible.
LeGrand has seen essentially no progress since suffering the injury against Army on October 16th.
Nevertheless, family member have indicated that LeGrand remains upbeat and positive, despite the odds being against him to get up and walk again.
Ariel Curet, Eric’s aunt, told the media that “Eric always talks about what he’s going to do when he gets up.”
In other LeGrand news, Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano indicated that LeGrand would watch Rutgers take on Pittsburgh from his Hackensack University Medical Center hospital bed.
While he could not have been happy with the way the game went, LeGrand had to be taken back by all the support he was getting.
Not only did Rutgers sport a “Believe” sticker on the front of their helmets, an abundance of Pitt fans wore stickers with the Scarlet R that read “Pitt Is Pulling For Eric.”
Additionally, Pitt students and players signed a banner wishing LeGrand a speedy recovery.
Bleacher Report writers have been diligent in keeping fans updated on LeGrand’s condition, a trend that is not expected to change anytime soon.
