College Football Week 8: The Ultimate TV Viewing Guide, Oct. 21-23
Welcome back to another week of the Ultimate College Football Television Guide for week numero ocho! This is the first week of the Bowl Championship Series rankings and we have number one Oklahoma as the top dog. But if you look at the AP and coaches polls you see Oregon at number one. So shouldn't they be number one at the start of the BCS?
Wait, stop, before we get into discussion on the comment section let's get off this topic since you want to know what to watch on television; not try to figure out math. That is why you couch potatoes are awesome.
But before we can move forward a certain columnist who put out a particular piece putting a freshman quarterback who plays at Nebraska as the seventh best quarterback in the Big 12; but then got a lot of heat from the Cornhusker fan base for doing so, must get something off of their chest.
Oh Nebraska, oh ho Nebraska how you just rooster teased your fan base. Not only did you pump your chest out after destroying the likes of Idaho, Washington, and Kansas State. Not only did you start to build a statue of Taylor Martinez. And not only did you say, “we have a great passing game, Taylor is the best quarterback in the Big 12 and a top five quarterback in all of college football.”
You as a fan base had this game against Texas circled since you were kicked in the gut at the Big 12 championship game. And guess what, your freshman quarterback and dominate running game that sometimes passes the ball crapped the bed.
Alright deep breaths let's get back to the television watching.
Last week we had number one Ohio State go on the road in their first tough game of the year against Wisconsin and lose. This week the new number one in the BCS poll goes on the road. Will they survive and continue their roads to the BCS National Title game?
Click through the slides to see when and where they are playing plus the rest of the best games of the week!

Thursday, Oct. 21st, 9:00(PM) EDT: UCLA at No. 2 Oregon, ESPN
1 of 11
Starting our weekend of television watching we have the number one team in the country hosting UCLA.
Oregon has a great offense that has not been challenged by any defense that they have faced this year. When put to their toughest opponent in Stanford, they overcame a half time deficit to win by 21.
UCLA however, is an enigma. They looked horrible against Stanford earlier in the year, but went on to defeat two ranked opponents in consecutive weeks.
Friday, Oct. 22nd, 8:00(PM) EDT: South Florida at Cincinnati, ESPN2
2 of 11
In the weekly ESPN must play a Big East game that hardly anyone will watch, we have South Florida traveling to Cincinnati.
Both teams are 3-3 on the season with Cincinnati at 1-0 in the Big East. Cincinnati is on a two game winning streak after winning their Big East opener against Louisville 35-28.
South Florida's last two games, both in conference; they have failed to score a touchdown losing 13-9 to Syracuse and 20-6 to West Virginia.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, Noon (EDT): No. 7 Michigan State at Northwestern, ESPN
3 of 11
Michigan State takes their highest ranking in school history to Northwestern. On the season they have only been tested once in a close game. It was the game against Notre Dame where they needed a fake field goal play in overtime to defeat the Irish.
Northwestern is not a push over in this game. They are 5-1 on the season with a 1-1 record in the Big Ten. Their only loss on the season came last week against Purdue 20-17.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, Noon (EDT): Syracuse at No. 20 Wester Virginia, ESPN 2
4 of 11
This is a season defining game for a surprising Syracuse Orange football team. Surprising because this team the last two years had no more than five wins. This year, after six games they're 4-2 and one game back of conference leader, West Virginia.
For West Virginia they have to establish the passing game. Last week an awful passing team in Pittsburgh threw for four touchdowns and 266 yards on this Syracuse defense. Geno Smith may have a career game this week.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, Noon (EDT): Notre Dame at Navy, CBS
5 of 11
Navy may have a very good running game, but they have an awful passing game. Don't believe me? They rank 117th out of 120 teams in passing overall averaging only 109.5 yards per game.
Notre Dame has been on a bit of a roll winning their last three games, improving to 4-3 on the year.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 3:30(PM) EDT: No. 6 LSU at No. 4 Auburn, CBS
6 of 11
In our game of the week, it once again is an SEC match. This week it is between two teams in the top 10 of every major poll.
The question is, can Auburn quarterback, Cam Newton, lead this team again to 60 points against a great defense?
Or can Les Miles pull off something crazy on special teams and pull out an upset?
The winner of this game is heavily in control of their fate in the SEC and in the BCS.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 3:30(PM) EDT: No. 13 Wisconsin at No. 15 Iowa, ABC Or ESPN
7 of 11
For the Big Ten fans that read this story here is your game of the week.
Wisconsin comes into this game fresh off of upsetting number one Ohio State. They have a great running game and a stout defense.
Iowa was one of the teams that was happiest with the outcome of the Ohio State game. With their early season lost to Arizona, a win against Wisconsin would enable them to control their fate to a Rose Bowl bid.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 7:00(PM) EDT: No. 8 Alabama at Tennessee, ESPN
8 of 11
Alabama takes the tough road back to the BCS National Championship game to Knoxville Tennessee. They need to open up big this week to show the pollsters that they are better than some of the undefeated teams.
Tennessee's last game against a ranked SEC team was their epic meltdown against LSU. They played them tough on the road, proving that they can hang with the best of the SEC.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 7:30(PM) EDT: North Carolina at Miami (FL), ESPN2
9 of 11
The U really has lost the good looking fans that they once had huh?
North Carolina and their head coach Butch Davis just want this season to end. From assistant coaches being linked to agents who pay players, to the kids who aren't suspended blowing out their knees.
Miami is coming off a win against Duke where they forced seven turnovers, but only scored 28 points. Miami quarterback, Jacory Harris, has not had the year that Miami fans were hoping he would have. He has thrown for over 1000 yards and 11 touchdowns; but the alarming number is his interceptions, 9.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 8:00(PM) EDT: No.1 Oklahoma at No. 11 Missouri, ABC
10 of 11
ESPN College Gameday's television show is here in Missouri. The last two weeks that the number one team has gone on the road they have ended up losing.
Can Missouri, which has been dominated by Bob Stoops and Oklahoma in the recent years, keep this trend of number ones losing going?
Oklahoma has been on quite the roll in their first two Big 12 games. They won a close game against Texas in which they never trailed. Then followed it up with a thrashing of Iowa State last week.
Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 10:15(PM) EDT: Washington at No. 18 Arizona, ESPN
11 of 11
And to close out your television watching, it's a Pac 10 game with Washington and Arizona.
Washington seems to have found their offense. An offense that was to showcase quarterback Jake Locker and revive the program to at least a bowl game.
Arizona rebounded nicely last week against Washington State winning 24-7. A loss here to another 2-1 Pac 10 team in Washington, would sink their season and end any chances of winning the conference.
