Alabama Football: Why It's Not Good To Be Ole Miss This Weekend

Larry BurtonOct 13, 2010

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) If there was ever a time to not be an Ole Miss player, coach or fan, this would be the week.

Alabama is back at home, breathing fire and ready to hit someone after the torment they've gone through this week after their first heartbreaking loss in the regular season in over two years, having to live through the days of practice where all their mistakes kept being brought up and needing to establish a new identity not only to themselves, but the entire nation.

And square in the gun sights is little Ole Miss. It's not that they haven't already had their share of problems this season, now they have to go to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and live through this?

Anything short of having the city run out of ambulances to continue taking Rebels to the hospital could be considered a moral victory for Ole Miss.

If you're an Ole Miss player, this is a game you don't want your mother to come to.

The players are going to be so intense in Crimson that they might tackle you and then run up into the stands and tackle your mother for good measure.

Alabama could very well play not only their best game of the season this Saturday, but their most physical.

They don't want to win, they want to make a statement. They don't want to just win, they want players who see this game to shake in their cleats thinking about being an Ole Miss Rebel on that day. They want to make Ole Miss roll over, play dead and beg for mercy.

Nick Saban, who usually doesn't like to run the score up necessarily on coaches, won't call the dogs off on this day.

It's going to get ugly quick and be ugly all day long if you're any other fan than a Crimson Tide fan.

The only thing the Tide will leave on the field after this game will part of shame of last weeks loss.

And that's a good thing, because Nick Saban wants them to keep a piece of it in their souls for the rest of the season.

If they do, you can pity the next opponent as well.
