Carmelo Anthony Trade Rumors: Why the New York Knicks Need to Get Him
In recent weeks, Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony has been the subject of never-ending trade rumors.
One of which would have him heading to New York to join forces with Amar'e Stoudemire and the Knicks.
For Denver, this is a losing situation all around. There is very little New York could send over in a trade that would compare to what Anthony does for the Nuggets.
Anthony is a one-on-one scorer who can get a basket whenever his team needs it.
Quite frankly, he is irreplaceable.
However, with the Nuggets knowing very well that Anthony could leave next offseason, without them getting anything in return (see: James, LeBron & Cavaliers), they might be inclined to make a deal happen whether they improve from it or not.
Two players who Denver has been reported to be interested in are Danilo Gallinari and Anthony Randolph.
However, the Knicks are still hesitant to include those two in any possible trade scenarios according to Jared Zwerling of ESPN.
Though it's obvious that the Knicks aren't pulling out all the stops in regard to acquiring Anthony, there is no question they want him on their roster.
He would instantly become the No. 1 option offensively, and would likely thrive in Mike D'antoni's run n' gun fast-breaking offense. Of course, who doesn't?
But for the Knicks to have any chance of winning in the near future, this trade needs to get done, regardless of at what it might cost in potential talent.
Carmelo Anthony is a superstar, much like Stoudemire, and with the possibility of Chris Paul being a free agent in 2012 and joining forces with the two in the big apple, the reward largely outweighs the risk.
