NFL Power Rankings Week 4: Where The New York Jets Stand

Rob BeloteSep 29, 2010

At my site, www.GuysNation.com, I took a hard look at all 32 teams, compared their records, the average points they've scored and allowed per game, their strength of schedule and came up with the NFL Power Rankings for Week 4 in the 2010 NFL season.

One of the teams which was hard to place were the New York Jets.  They are one of several teams who have started off the season with a record of 2-1, so I really had to compare who they've played, where the games were held, what the final outcomes were, and what's going on with their team.

A 1 point loss to the Baltimore Ravens at home to start the season certainly wasn't inspiring to me.  Prior to the season I thought the Jets and Ravens would both excel on offense and on defense, but in week 1 neither team seemed to be able to get their offense going.

I really liked the fact that the Jets rebounded with a nice two-touchdown victory over the New England Patriots in week 2.  It was a home game, and if the Jets are going to be a playoff team, they're going to need to beat their divisional opponents at home.  The Patriots have a strong offense, so the fact that the Jets held them to only 14 is great.  I like Antonio Cromartie, as I think he was probably the biggest acquisition New York made this off-season, and he did a great job covering Randy Moss once Revis came up with a hamstring injury.

The Week 3 victory in Miami by 8 points is certainly inspiring, as I think Miami has a talented team which could contend for a wild card spot for the AFC, and anytime you can go on the road against a strong divisional opponent and come away with a victory, that's quite an accomplishment.

So where did I rank the Jets?

They're certainly ahead of the teams they've beaten, the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots, both of those teams also at 2-1.

I ranked the Baltimore Ravens ahead of them, not only because the Ravens beat the Jets, but because they did it IN New York, which never should've happened.

I put the New York Jets 10th in my Power Rankings at www.GuysNation.com.  You know the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers are all going to be ahead of the Jets, given their undefeated records, but that leaves another 5 teams (all of which have 2-1 records) who I ranked above the Jets.  To find out who those teams are and the rest of my rankings, check out the full Power Rankings on www.GuysNation.com!  Unlike Power Rankings you see elsewhere, your comments could help persuade me to rank your team better after Week 4!
