A New Year For the Old Champs Expect Big Things from Manchester United

IconHaving made the Semifinals of the Champion's League and winning the English Premier League, being English Cup Finalists was a cause worth celebrating for Manchester United.

As the trophy-holders started this season, it was a very bright one. They only picked up a few points from the first three or so games. But very soon, they were back on track, and are now only four points behind the contending Gunners.

As they are out of the cup due to a loss against Coventry City, they will be concentrating more on the other cup trophy—The Champions League Trophy!

Having guaranteed a place into the knockout stage, they'll be cruising with great confidence during their game on Wednesday. That is a a great time to be facing their old fierce rivals from the Champions League, AS Roma. Everyone surely remembers the second leg drumming that ended with 7-1 win for the English side.

As it might now seem that finishing first is not the best option due to having a lot of top-spot teams clinch second place, Manchester will not give anything easy, and a win is what any manager wants.

It won't be the best of games, as Manchester has already played Roma at home, and are  now looking forward to a fairly easy league game vs. Derby County. It is a matter of knowing how many goals they can stack up.

If Manchester gets up two or more goals in the first 25 minutes, then we might see an early change to rest Rooney and Ronaldo, and give them a better chance in the mid-week game against the Italians.

It could be that Manchester is guaranteed to go through to the next stage—but revenge yet again must be considered.

Will there be another night long slaughter that will stay in our memory for years? Or will we instead see a deadlock battle contained in the middle of the field? Or even better, a deadlock with attacks going all up and down the field, with a ton of goals scored by both sides?

A Devil will always be one—but will this be the year they embarass the i Giallorossi in Stadio Olimpico?

Let's hope a number of beautiful goals will answer this rhetorical question!
