Pete Spratt Hosts "Cage Fighter Blood Drive" In San Antonio, Texas
For the second time in as many years, mixed martial arts veteran and former Ultimate Fighting Championships contender Pete "The Secret Weapon" Spratt is hosting his “Cage Fighter Blood Drive” in San Antonio, Texas in an attempt to help fight the seemingly never-ending problem of depleted blood bank reserves—a problem that currently plagues the majority of blood banks throughout the world.
In an effort to help curb the issue of depleted blood reserves in his home state and aid those in need of blood transfusions, Spratt has joined forces with both Gold’s Gym and the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center.
The Denison, Texas native is holding his annual blood drive at the Gold’s Gym on 100 Crossroads Boulevard in San Antonio, Texas, while the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center will be on hand to take care of donations from four to eight on the evening of August 23rd.![]()
“The blood banks here in San Antonio continue to have low reserves, so we as a community need to help solve this problem,” Spratt said via e-mail, “it’s a very simple and easy process to help save a life.”
Those who donate blood will have a chance to win Bellator Fighting Championships tickets and other prizes, and those who arrive early may have the opportunity to meet Spratt and mingle with a number of San Antonio’s finest local mixed martial artists.
Although Spratt won’t be drawing any of his own blood, due to contractual obligations for an upcoming bout with the Shark Fights promotion, the 39 year old has been donating his platelets for many years. And after experiencing a recent scare in which a blood transfusion saved his ailing grandmother’s life, "The Secret Weapon" understands just how significant it is to give blood.
Spratt plans on eventually holding several blood-drives a year, rather than holding one event annually.
