Keeping a Balance of Sports, Family and Other Duties Is Sometimes Hard
Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) The past year was both a hectic and rewarding time to be covering Alabama football. I got to know the players, the coaching staff and the intricacies of becoming more professional than I have ever done before.
But it came with a price. I spent less time at home than usual, went to games without my wife and family because they weren't allowed in the press box and missed a lot of good times I had on game day with the usual suspects at the Tiki Bar.
So with Bacardi the Wonder Dog, working patrol duty and reading up on the other SEC teams, (and a rather large house sitter guarding the house) we are off for a while for some husband—wife time in St. Kitts.
While Bacardi is boning up to get prepared for another season of Larry's Losers in the SEC, I'll be relaxing and testing the local nectar, taking in some scuba dives, Ruth and I are climbing one volcano and I'll be gathering some new spices and ingredients for a better batch of smart cookies than Bacardi and I came up with last year, when we only had one perfect week.
I expect the other writers to pick up the slack during my vacation because they've never let me down yet when it comes to making the Alabama Community here on Bleacher Report the web's number one site for articles you just don't find elsewhere.
For all you readers who have wondered if you have what it takes to become a writer, now is the time to work with the B/R staff and show them what you've got.
We have a talented slate of writers here, but we can always use more.
I'll come back with a renewed vigor and look forward to reading what the other writers come up with. Just over two weeks to go, but hey, who's counting?
