Line One? More Like Number One on The Line: 2012 Recruit Prentiss Brooks
When you look at pro athletes like Albert Haynesworth, you see a 27-year-old man who complains about his position even while he's receiving over $100 million. Prentiss Brooks isn't an Albert Haynesworth. Playing for Palatine High School (Palatine, IL), Brooks is one of the top 2012 recruits in all of high school football.
Even more important, while Brooks is preparing for the season, his coaches prepare on using him in more then one spot. The 6'2," 220-pound defensive lineman not only has size, but speed, athleticism and determination to be the best.
With his fast, explosive, constant movement and strong base, you start to hear whispers of, "He's a young Dwight Freeney." Brooks pays no attention to it, saying, "What people say about my playing style is their own opinion, I'm just here to play to the best of my abilities."
While he may not be comfortable with adjusting to new positions, Brooks understands that playing under critical circumstances is the best way to play. "I love football, and I can only hope that my God-given abilities can help me achieve my goal of playing football at a collegiate level."
He's only a junior and Brooks wants everyone to know that. "I might make people think I'm older, but really I'm just a kid. When not playing football, I like to hang out with my best friends who keep me out of trouble, go tubing and wake-boarding and I also enjoy playing basketball."
It isn't crazy to compare Brooks' game to those of some of the top collegiate and professional defensive players in the game. First-hand look at Brooks, the name Jerry Hughes jumps out at you, with his ability to play defensive line/outside linebacker.
Getting noticed is no problem for Brooks, who has turned the heads of scouts from collegiate programs such as Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan St. Although Brooks likes Nebraska and TCU, he'll play wherever he is most wanted.
"No matter where my future lands me, I'll play to the best of my abilities to make sure I am noticed, to make sure the player on the opposite side of the ball has nightmares of me blowing past him." Inspiring words from an inspiring player. He will soon be on your favorite college's map.
