Manchester City: Eight Burning Questions Before Saturday
With the season approaching fast, it is time to answer the big questions. At this point my focus is on players who are wearing Blue at this moment. I am not concerned with players City may or may not get. Those players will not help City beat Spurs on Saturday.
1. What is the best or worst City can finish in the coming season?
At this point, the best City can do is win the league. With the talent available, there is no reason they can't. The main issue is if Mancini can get the team to play as a solid unit and not as separate egos on the pitch.
The worst City can finish is fourth. Anything worse would be disastrous. City must finish in a Champions League spot to prove that the spending they have done is a success.
2. Who is City's key player?
Manchester City's key player is going to be David Silva. Carlos Tevez carried City in the second half of last season.
At many points of the season it was Tevez who created his chances and finished them. As we could tell though, he soon began to wear down in the last few matches of the season. David Silva is a player who can create chances and give Tevez the service he needs to be more successful.
3. Who will be City's unsung hero?
It has to be Nigel DeJong. He is hard tackling, tough and supports the back four well. If he is allowed to pair up with Toure Yaya, it could be a formidable defensive midfield.
4. Who is a waste of space?
Until he proves me wrong, Robinho is a waste of space, oxygen, media attention and talent. He has slagged off City, even though they pay him 160k per week. He is a selfish whiner who never showed up away from home. I believe City are better off without the dressing room cancer.
5. Is Roberto Mancini the right man for City?
Roberto Mancini is the right man. He knows what it takes to win a major title. Three Serie A titles don't lie. The fact of the matter is that City have gone through more managers than the amount of mistakes the media has blamed on the club (and that is a lot).
Stability starts at the top. The ownership is stable, now the management must follow suit.
6. Who is the young player to watch out for?
Adam Johnson. Not much explanation needed: he does what most other England wingers do not do. He hustles, he is creative, he runs at defenders, and makes them fear him! He drew penalties last season at crucial times and scored the goal of the season.
Why Capello left him off the World Cup roster is mind boggling to say the least. Johnson has a chance this season to make Capello regret that decision even more.
7. Where will City finish?
I know I will take a lot of flack for this. I honestly think the stars are aligned for City. With all of the hatred, abuse and blame that has been directed at City, it is my opinion that the Blues will give the media and the haters all a big dish of crow to eat.
Top Four finish for City.
City will win Silverware.
8. Who will be relegated?
I think Wigan, Blackpool and Bolton will go down.
I wish it could be Man United—hey, I can dream, can't I?
If that happened I would die that happiest man on Earth! I think all Blues would!
Well, here's to an exciting season of Manchester City football. In my honest opinion, City will win silverware this season.
