Call On Me: Five Men Who Should Join Team Cena At SummerSlam
John Cena's team, who will face The Nexus at SummerSlam, has been cut to just five men, with only one week left before the showdown.
I was certainly happy to hear that two of the members had been removed from the team, but disappointed to hear that they were the two best men. Edge and Chris Jericho are gone from Team Cena, Cena's Army, Team WWE, or whatever else you wish to call the team.
Now, speculation will likely be answered tomorrow night when the two spots are expected to be filled. They wouldn't make it a 7-on-5 match and sacrifice the strength of either team. They also wouldn't make surprise announcements at the show for fear of not selling a "big four" pay-per-view.
Here are five men that, in my mind, would make sense to take up a spot in this match.
Evan Bourne

Bourne is the most likely man to join the team tomorrow night. He has gotten beaten up by Nexus on more than one occasion, including the "SummerSlam preview," when Bourne was the last of Raw's misfits to be eliminated.
While some would suggest including a guy like Yoshi Tatsu in this match, he isn't being pushed to merit being placed in that match, let alone a pay-per-view card.
Bourne's "main event push that wasn't, then was, and then wasn't again" should be flipped back into the "On" position after being included in this match.
William Regal

How come this team has turned into an all-babyface affair? Jericho and Edge were the lone heels in the group. Rule number one for any "invasion" storyline is that heels and faces need to work together and fight the opposition. Now, it's a cut and dry "WWE is good, Nexus is bad" gag fest.
Regal belongs in here, mainly to present a strange moment with Barrett, since the both are practically cut from the same cloth. Also, it would be interesting to see Regal face off against Skip Sheffield, his rookie from NXT's first season.
At this point, Regal needs to be used to get younger talent over; not to job to Santino Marella. WWE booking hasn't shown this much disrespect to a former King of the Ring winner since Billy Gunn.
Besides, it isn't like he has anything else better to do that day.
Christian

Who says that this has to be an all-RAW affair? After all, isn't the team referred to as Team WWE? Why not have some Smackdown guys involved here as well?
Christian was a vocal guy on the first NXT season as well and, as the pro to Heath Slater, would have an alibi into the match. He has also worked matches with practically all seven members of Nexus. It would only ease the nerves of the seven men making their pay-per-view debuts to at least wrestle a guy they have spent time with before.
Sadly, the inclusion of Christian into a storyline and a major pay-per-view is more creative than WWE will give Captain Charisma. For shame, booking. For shame...
Mark Henry

Many in the wrestling community speculate that the World's Strongest Man will be in the match as well come next Sunday. It's hard to say that for sure, but he certainly could work.
He is a much more believable big man than Khali. We all know that any part of the match with Khali is going to likely be lame anyway. Henry could at least use his size and strength to make it look good.
It also wouldn't kill them to give Wade Barrett another chance to hit his finisher on Henry. This time, I think he would get it right and put himself way over.
Daniel Bryan

A guy can dream, can't he?
What, you can put Bret Hart in the match and it's fine, but suggesting revenge on the part of Daniel Bryan is ridiculous?
The way they wrote off the former Nexus member was that he felt remorse for the attacks and was removed from the group. With Cena's Twitter posts on an official WWE-certified Twitter, Cena said that he would love to see Bryan come back and would love to wrestle him.
What better way to come full circle than to have Bryan become uber face and shock the wrestling community? Most people have dropped their speculation of his firing being a work. I, however, will ride the crazy train all the way to the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, hoping to see Bryan enter the ring with his robe, red trunks, finger in the air, and his weird shuffle side steps down the ramp.
By the way, SummerSlam marks 65 days that Daniel Bryan has "officially been released" from his WWE contract.
For all you TNA guys, the 90-day no wrestle clause would run out for Bryan on Sept. 9. Unfortunately, that is four days after No Surrender, for all those who expect an immediate debut in TNA. Let's not even mull that idea over any longer, since we all know that Bryan will never want to go to TNA.
