Favre Fever

All day I have been hearing that Brett Favre is once again retiring. It seems as if there is no other sporting news going on today…pretty ridiculous! Reports came in that he had texted a few teammates, letting them know that he will not be returning this upcoming season. As soon as word got out, things became crazy in the sporting world. It seems as if most people still do not believe it, and they have a very good argument for this. Favre is not known for being the most reliable person when it comes to this issue; he has already retired TWICE!

This is my opinion on it: the whole Favre drama is plain annoying! I’m tired of watching it all day; I would like to hear about other sporting news not just about Favre and his decision to retire once again. Vikings coach Brad Childress said that he has not heard anything about this and long-time teammate Ryan Longwell said he actually talked to Favre this morning and Brett did not mention anything abut retiring. Who knows what Favre is thinking. He obviously is still a great QB, he proved it last year with the amazing numbers that he put up. My advice to him, just leave. People are beginning to become very tired of this act and it is always a guessing game with him. Favre is one of the best QBs in NFL history, therefore he has nothing to be ashamed of. It is time for him to retire and spend time with his family, so unless he tells the Vikings by the end of the day that he would like to play another season, he should just call it quits.

With this retirement news also comes the ranking of Brett Favre’s best moments, and there is one main moment that will always stand out to me. December 22nd, 2003. This was the day he walked onto the field for a Monday Night Football game against the Oakland Raiders, a day after the death of his father. I remember this being a very emotional night and it was amazing to see the passion that Favre played with. He threw for 399 yards and 4 touchdowns in a game that the NFL will always remember. This was, in my opinion, the greatest moment in Favre’s entire career and this really defined who he was but now it is time for him to hang it up.
