English Cricket: County Championship Division One, Round Eleven
Nottinghamshire missed the chance to replace Yorkshire at the top of Division One after their defeat to Somerset, ahead of the top two meeting for the first time.
Yorkshire had no game but stay top on 144 points, winning four, drawing six, and losing once.
Nottinghamshire have 143 points, winning five, drawing two, and losing three after their 10 wicket defeat to Somerset at Taunton.
Somerset amassed 517 in their first innings thanks to James Hildreth's 142, while Darren Pattinson was the pick of the bowlers with 5-95.
Nottinghamshire recovered from 130-5 to make 339 thanks to Samit Patel (109) and Chris Read (80) but still had to follow-on due to Charl Willoughby's 6-101.
The away side crumbled to 190 the second time around with Alfonso Thomas (5-40) chief destroyer.
Somerset knocked off the 13 runs they required for a comprehensive victory.
The Taunton-outfit move up to third on 131 points, winning four, drawing four, and losing two after their win against Nottinghamshire.
Lancashire slip to fourth on 121 points, winning three and drawing seven of their games, five in a row, after their latest draw at Hampshire.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul's 118 helped Lancashire to 283 while former bowler Dominic Cork came back to haunt his old county with 4-57.
Hampshire edged ahead scoring 369, Jimmy Adams topped scoring with 72 as Glen Chapple (4-68) and Gary Keedy (4-56) took four wickets each.
Lancashire made 351-6 in their second innings as Tom Smith (128) and Gareth Cross (100 not out) made centuries as the match came to a draw.
Essex have 111 points, winning two, drawing seven, and losing three of their games after their defeat to Kent at Canterbury.
Martin van Jaarsveld (106) and Geraint Jones (99) helped Kent to 420 despite Bryce McGain's 5-151.
Essex replied with 279, as Mark Pettini hit a 246-ball 88.
Kent stumbled to 135 second time around as Andy Carter tool 5-40.
Needing 277 for victory, the away side collapsed to 177 as Azhar Mahmood took 5-62 to give Kent the win.
Kent move up to sixth on 109 points, winning two, drawing five, and losing four games after their win.
Hampshire have 102 points, winning two, drawing four, and losing four with their draw against Lancashire.
Durham slip two places but had no game this round on 100 points, winning three, drawing four, and losing two.
Warwickshire also didn't play, so stay on 82 points, winning two, drawing one, and losing eight.
The next round of fixtures, August 3-6, sees Hampshire play Durham, Kent against Somerset and Yorkshire face Nottinghamshire.
Essex host Warwickshire starting from August 4.
