
Leah Siegel: Remembering The Inspirational ESPN Producer
One of the faces behind the scenes at ESPN has died after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Leah Siegel passed away early Monday morning in the presence of her husband and three children.
She was 43 years old. Siegel’s work throughout the sports world earned her three Emmy Awards.
She will be remembered as one of the first women to become a full-time field producer for ESPN.

Personal Life

Siegel was raised in Washington D.C. by and graduated from Maret High School. She enrolled in the University of Maryland following high school and began her career in television at WRC-TV.
She married Eric Loehr and the couple had three children; Teagan, 5; Wyatt, 3: and Oliver, 1.
The Fight Against Cancer

Shortly after giving birth to her third child, Siegel was diagnosed with lobular carcinoma.
The condition was in the advance stages and deemed treatable but not curable. Siegel became an active crusader for cancer victims.
She became an active participant in the fundraising efforts for the Komen Dallas Race for the Cure.
She founded a group in late 2008 to raise awareness and respond to the outpouring of public support.
