Jon Madsen: Karlos Vemola Is in For a Beating
This Saturday at UFC 116, Jon Madsen will attempt to keep his winning streak alive against fellow undefeated fighter Karlos Vemola.
After a stint on the 10th season of Spike TV's hit reality show "The Ultimate Fighter", Madsen has gone 2-0 in the UFC with wins over Justin Wren and Mostapha Al-turk.
On the eve of what will be his highest profile bout in the UFC, Jon took a moment out of his busy training schedule to answer a few questions for Bleacher Report.
First off, who are you training with for this fight?
I'm training with the DeathClutch team for this fight. It includes Brock Lesnar, Chris Tuscherer ... and head trainer Marty Morgan.
What are your feelings on the TUF house now that it is in the more distant past? Would you do it again?
The house was a great experience and I would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat. Good food, great house, the only bad thing was the company sucked!
Did the fighters in the house consider Roy Nelson the favorite at the time?
I don't know about anybody else, but I thought Roy was the favorite right from the get go. When he walked in, I knew that was the guy I'd have to beat to win the show.
Was Kimbo treated differently than the rest of the cast?
Kimbo received a little extra treatment with his fight. He was allowed to have a couple friends come in and watch his fight. None of the rest of us were allowed that treatment.
Who are you picking in the main event of UFC 116?
Lesnar will win the main event at UFC 116.
Do you see the heavyweight belt changing hands multiple times in the near future? Who do you think will end up at the top?
No, I think the champ will stay the same for a little while now. I don't see anybody that could beat Lesnar.
What are your feelings on your opponent Karlos Vemola?
Karlos Vemola is in for a beatdown. That's all I have to say about that guy.
Do you think about being undefeated often? Is it something you concern yourself with maintaining?
I don't ever think about being undefeated. It's not something I'm concerned with at all. I focus on winning and that's it! Simple.
Who are some of your favorite fighters, or fighters, that have influenced you in your career?
Robbie Lawler is one of my favorite fighters. I haven't had any fighters really influence my career as of yet. Hopefully one day, I will have a few names for that one.
Thanks for your time, Jon.
