Should Manny Pacquiao Wait for Floyd Mayweather or Fight Miguel Cotto?
By Troy Sparks
Will somebody please tell me that Manny Pacquiao was at Yankee Stadium watching the Miguel Cotto vs. Yuri Foreman fight last Saturday?
I didn't see Pac-Man on TV when I watched the fight, unless I briefly flipped the channel.
For curiosity's sake, what was Manny doing there if he was actually there?
Cotto was trying to focus on Foreman during their bout.
He certainly didn't need a reminder that Pacquiao was in the house scouting him as his next opponent.
The Pac-Man was probably watching Cotto like a panther scoping his prey before the kill.
Maybe Pacquiao has his next opponent in mind.
I believe, since Cotto and Pacquiao are represented by Bob Arum, that it would be a great rematch.
Arum organized the first match between these two warriors.
But I didn't think he'd do something like that.
Don King might do something like that because he pitted two fighters he represented against each other before.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't King represent George Foreman, then jump to Muhammad Ali's side after Foreman was dropped in the eighth round?
If I'm wrong about that, then I'm wrong.
Never mind that. Cotto, according to Arum, may consider fighting Pacquiao again, possibly in November.
So that leaves Floyd Mayweather out of the picture, right?
If that's the plan in the Pacquiao camp, then he's running from Mayweather.
Or, he could be tired of waiting until Mayweather stops playing foolish games.
Pacquiao should fight Mayweather first, then take on Cotto.
If he wins both fights, then he can retire and sip whatever they sip in the Philippines.
No matter which route Pacquiao takes, Mayweather or Cotto will wear him out.
Cotto will be ready this time for the Pac-Man.
Not only did Pacquiao knock Cotto out in the twelfth round last November, he took his WBO Welterweight title and most of the pay-per-view money, $22 million to $12 million.
That won't happen to Cotto again.
The WBA Light Middleweight belt that Cotto holds now will be on the line.
A reader said Cotto will lose the belt to Pacquiao.
You can line up Cotto and Pacquiao against Mayweather. He'll beat the crap out of both of them.
Then after those beatdowns, Mayweather might be bored again because no other fighters will come close to his success in the ring.
I heard Pacquiao will be the greatest fighter if he retires on top. That's a bunch of bull.
I'm ready to hear the comments from boxing fans about Pac-Man's losses if he steps to both Mayweather and Cotto.
Pacquiao can take his butt-whooping standing up or lying down.
