Woods, Choi, Holmes, and Kuchar: Round One of the Memorial—FANTASY STARS
"That's more like it," I was thinking as I checked the leader board following the first round of Jack's Memorial Tournament.
My team this week has Woods as my A-Player, and he kicked in a nice -3 start and 19th place for the first two days.
J.B. Holms fired a beautiful -5 and is in 6th place.
K.J. Choi responded will his own -3 which eerily matches Tiger Woods' score once more in tournament play. This has been happening frequently. Choi however, is still on the course and could go lower on Saturday.
Matt Kuchar also is at -3, and this whole team looks very solid, having obtained 40 fantasy points in Yahoo Fantasy Golf. Day two should be about the same.
Again for the fourth straight week, I have moved up one more point to the 85th percentile and a season total of 3115 points.
One more day of good fortune for my players, and I will pass all of the Yahoo Golf Experts for the season, so far.
Your tournament leader is Ricky Fowler, out on the course in round two, and currently -10.
Next is Justin Rose at -7 followed by Geoff Ogilvy and Tim Petrovic at -6. Steve Stricker has also reached -6, followed by J.B Holmes, my closest fantasy player at -5.
Tiger could have played even better, as he was slow to get started on Day One. Look for Woods to reach -6 to -7 himself on Friday to position him for a weekend run defending his Memorial Title.
Ricky Fowler is a very good rookie, but seriously, will he handle the pressure of a Tiger Woods field and the excitement of Sunday with Jack Nicklaus ever-present?
It's a long way to Sunday, but I look for Woods, Holmes, Choi, and possibly Mickelson to be hanging around by the last back nine.
Enjoy all the golf.
In other news, I bowled in league for the first time in 4-5 years. 147-166-197.
This will improve.
