County Championship Division Two, Round Five
Glamorgan and Gloucestershire closed the gap to leaders Sussex in the latest round of Division Two fixtures.
Despite not playing, Sussex remain top after five games on 90 points.
Glamorgan are second after five games on 74 points following their win over Northamptonshire at Cardiff.
The away side batted first making 253, Stephen Peters hitting 72 as Huw Waters took 3-55.
Glamorgan replied with 450 thanks to Jamie Dalrymple's 105 while Andrew Hall took 4-93.
Northamptonshire could only muster 193 in their second innings, James Harris chief destroyer with 5-62 meaning Glamorgan won by an inning and four runs.
Gloucestershire are third on 70 points after five games with their nine-wicket win over Leicestershire at County Ground.
The home side batted first and made 376 thanks to Alex Gidman's 99 while Matthew Hoggard took 4-67.
Leicestershire scrambled to 102 with Will Jefferson (51) making half the runs and Claude Henderson (28) the only other man to score more than six.
Following on they did a better job, scoring 285, Paul Nixon and Matthew Boyce top scoring with 63 and 62 respectively.
But the damage had already been done and Gloucestershire reached their target of 12 for the loss of one wicket.

Derbyshire are fourth after five games with 62 points with their loss by an inning and 35 runs to Middlesex.
Derbyshire batted first but were all out for 196, Paul Borrington and Chesney Hughes resisting with 46 and 41 respectively.
Middlesex piled on 374 courtesy of Gareth Berg's 125 and Neil Dexter's 112, despite Tim Groenewald's 4-62.
Derbyshire again crumbled, this time to 143, with Hughes providing the main resistance again with 59 not out as Steven Finn claimed 4-29.
That win sees Middlesex climb to fifth on 60 points after six games.
Worcestershire in sixth, didn't play this round, so stay on 55 points from four games.
Leicestershire's defeat sees them slip to seventh after five games on 52 points.
Northamptonshire are eighth after five games with 48 points.
Bottom side Surrey are the only side without a win on 21 points having played four games.
The next round of fixtures, May 17-20, has Glamorgan playing Gloucestershire, Surrey facing Middlesex, and Worcester against Derbyshire. May 18-21 sees Northamptonshire face Sussex.
