Marcus Davis happy with win over Goulet and keeping job

Snapping a two-fight losing streak, Marcus Davis secured a second-round knockout over Jonathan Goulet at UFC 113.

"I'm elated," Davis told MMAFighting. "Still got a job. It's nice, especially in times like this. Really happy with the way it came out."

Many believed that if Davis had lost to Goulet, he would have been released from the UFC's roster. Davis has previous loses to Ben Saunders and Dan Hardy, and was fighting hard to get another win on his record.

"My job isn't just to win fights," he said. "Winning fights is for me, but my job is to show up and entertain. I'm an entertainer. So that's part of it and that's what I try to do."

For seven consecutive fights, Davis fought oversees in England (4), Ireland (2) and Germany (1), where he amassed a 5-2 record - and a lot of fan support. In the UFC, he holds a 9-3 record, two "Fight of the Night" honors, one "Knockout of the Night" honor and one "Submission of the Night" honor.

"Your job can be a stake any time in the UFC," he said. "I try to have fun and exciting fights so the crowd likes me and wants to have me back and fight again - that's what I think is most important. That's why guys that are so exciting, like Clay Guida - he lost four or five in a row at the beginning, and Dana White looked at me and said, 'That kid's always gonna have a job.'  That's how I wanna be."
