Sussex lost their unbeaten record in this round of Division Two fixtures but remain top of the table after five games on 90 points.

The home side batted first and made 217, with Matt Prior 123 not out. Middlesex replied with 296, Neil Dexter top scored with 80 while Corey Collymore took 5-67.

Sussex made 321 in their second innings thanks to Andy Hodd's 109 and Monty Panesar's unbeaten 46.

Chasing 243, Middlesex looked in trouble on 78-5 but an unbeaten century for Dawid Malan guided them home by three wickets.

Derbyshire didn't play this round and are second on 59 points after four games.

Worcestershire climb to third after four games with 55 points after their win at Leicester. The away side made a solid first innings total of 308 thanks to Moeen Ali's 80. Leicestershire made 181, largely thanks to Paul Nixon's 74 as Jack Shantry took 5-49.

Worcestershire scored 277 in their second innings, Alexei Kervezee falling agonisingly short of his maiden first-class hundred with 99 as Andrew McDonald took 5-40.

Chasing 405, the home side were dismissed for 231 with Wayne White unable to bat. Alan Richardson was chief destroyer with 5-44.

Glamorgan are fourth after four games on 51 points with no game this round.

After their defeat to Worcestershire, Leicestershire slip to fifth after four games on 49 points.

Gloucestershire are in sixth after four games with 47 points after winning at Surrey.

After winning the toss and batting, the away side made 229 after slipping to 127-7, courtesy of Chris Tremlett's 4-35.

Surrey could only manage 178 in reply and Gloucestershire extended their lead with a second-innings total of 248.

James Franklin shone with the bat with 92 not out while Stuart Meaker took 5-48.

Chasing 300 to win, Surrey fell short on 222 as Vikram Banerjee took 5-74.

Northamptonshire, who had no game this week, are seventh after four games with 45 points.

Middlesex are in eighth with 37 points after five games following their superb win against Sussex.

After their defeat to Gloucestershire, Surrey are rooted to the bottom of the table after four games on 21 points.

The next set of fixtures, May 10-13, sees Glamorgan against Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire against Leicestershire, and Middlesex against Derbyshire.
