Arsenal Player Ratings vs Blackburn

Callum D'SouzaMay 4, 2010

Arsenal suffered their ninth loss of the campaign after a lifeless performance against a doughty Blackburn outfit. The Gunners opened the scoring through stunning Dutchman Robin van Persie early in the first half, but two soft goals—both coming from corners—saw Rovers take out their first win over Arsenal in years.

Lacklustre keeping could be said to why the goals were concede but it was a unenergized Arsenal performance who are evidently fatigued and struggling without many key men. The loss ensures third place is not wrapped up for the Wenger and his men and will now have to make sure they defeat a second string Fulham side on the final day of the season.

Player Ratings

Lukasz Fabianski: 5: Beaten twice off corners, which marred a solid performance in which the Polish keeper made some good efforts to deny Blackburn. However, he still looks nervy and unreliable

Bacary Sagna: 6: Solid, as per usual from the Frenchman. Kept the ride side tidy and contributed in attack.

Sol Campbell: 5.5: Could be blamed for not controlling Samba off the corner that lead to the winner for the Rovers. Worked tirelessly, but to no real effect, and was caught out on occasion.

Mikael Silvestre: 4: Works his socks off, but age has caught up cruelly with the Frenchman. Failed to deal with Blackburn's menacing attacks and was out of position far to often.

Armand Traore: 5: Seems like an age since we last saw the youngster. Performed credibly in attack at times but was beaten to easily too. A handy attacker, however.

Abou Diaby: 5: Pretty ordinary from the lanky Frenchman. Wenger need more power and creativity from "Abou," but sadly he only performed in glimpses.

Samir Nasri: 5: Passenger-like at times, and Arsenal required more of a spark as he took on Fabregas's role. Not enough involvement.

Emmanuel Eboue: 5.5:  Up and down from the Ivorian. Adds spark and pace down the middle and flank, but loses ball carelessly and can offer to many reckless passes.

Theo Walcott: 6: Pacey and damaging on occasions, but final delivery left much to be desired.

Carlos Vela: 5: A rare start for the Mexican winger. Some nice runs and interesting pieces of skill, but failed to take a fantastic opportunity and was then substituted.

Robin van Persie: 7: Took his goal nicely and showed glimpses of why he is such a world class player. The footballing world awaits the fully fit van Persie next season.

Substitutes

Andrei Arshavin: 5.5: Added some spark to the attack but failed to really conjure up anything.
