Monday Meet and Greet: Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
This past weekend Pongsaklek Wonjongkam regained the world flyweight title. He beat up-and-coming undefeated Koki Kameda.
He held the WBC title in 2001 and held it until 2007. He defended it 17 times. He won 55 consecutive fights. With all of this he is still largely unknown in the United States.
He is a typical Asian fighter. He fights in Asia exclusively. He wins a title and keeps it in Asia. He fights a lot of bums and guys who have a sketchy record.
With that being said he has sewn up a spot in the Hall of Fame. Beating Koki Kameda proved that he is truly a great flyweight. He beat Kameda rather easily by using his savvy and expierence.
Personally I have always been a fan of his and hopefully more people will open their eyes to him.

Fight I Want to See
Other than that there isn’t much out there. This division is very old at the top. A fight with Omar Narvaez would be interesting. If we are honest with ourselves though that wont happen.
Daiki Kameda seems to be the biggest challenge and the biggest legacy enhancer on this list. I think with the last win he locked up a Hall of Fame spot. If he didn’t then the younger Kameda would leave no doubt.
What is in his future
We have seen with Naito how the brothers like to avenge each other. Other than the younger Kameda he doesn’t have many options. I think he has the right to take his title defend it a couple of times and retire.
