Another Bears' Free Agent Splash?
I'll be the first person to tell you that Chicago Bears' defensive end, Alex Brown, does contribute to this club.
Not only a leader, the former Gator is a very reliable end. Not posting up as much sacks compared to Peppers or Ogunleye, Brown can stop the run, deflect or pick off passes, and contains a very valuable leadership.
I know that controversy is inevitable yet again with Lovie Smith's decision thus far. This one, indeed, I support.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Israel Idonije is underrated. Period. Some people wrote him off as a tackle, but when he was in the game, I saw an immediate impact. Whether or not he'll have similar characteristics as an end is up for grabs.
Starting a consecutive 127 games, there is no doubt that Alex Brown is a injury-free, reliable end. A 9-year-pro, Brown has a few years left in the tank. I can see how we could get trade value for him. With Anderson and Idonije waiting for the torch, I don't see why not.
In the first place, I'd like to state that signing Ogunleye back would be better for us. 'Wale and Peppers on the end wouldn't be just good, but nasty. A line of (from left to right) Ogunleye, Idonije, Harris, and Peppers...it makes me think of the old Bears' pressure.
Some may argue that he doesn't have but a year left. Yes, he is pretty old, I admit. Does this mean he doesn't have a couple good years left? No. None of this controversy would be happening, in my mind, if we just retained Ogunleye. The picture you see above is in honor for my personal favorite defensive end.
Now, with Ogunleye and Brown out of the picture, there's a few options of outcomes.
1 | Idonije has a clean slate and makes the most out of this opportunity.
2 | We regret letting Brown go, and the line is weakened.
Or, 3 | Mark Anderson gets back his rookie season form, and Idonije is back at tackle.
Two of those three options sounds good to me.
Concluding this article, I'll leave you with this.
Freeing up 5 mill from Brown's contract, then the extra 10 from Vasher's contract, gives us money. Hopefully it isn't the Bears retaining their cheap ways. But, this is music to my ears :
The Chicago Bears use this free money to sign Torry Holt (5 mill) and Darren Sharper (a estimate of a 10 million contract.)
My reasoning for this has been stated before, but I'll repeat myself again. Sharper's presence is felt throughout a locker room. His intelligence is not to be questioned. He still has a few years left, and Brian Dawkins is an example of how age can be thrown out of the window...if you play your cards right.
Torry Holt is still a decent receiver. With him, we finally have a mentor for our promising, young receivers. Also, he knows Mike Martz's offense better than Lovie Smith does.
