Wladimir Klitschko Shows Why He Is No. 1 Against Eddie Chambers With Big KO
I love a heavyweight boxing title fight in Germany. Plain and simple, they know how to put one on. I am sitting here by myself watching Wladimir Klitschko come out, and I have sweaty palms and my hands are trembling.
I love it—heavyweight title fights are something to behold now. Even with the current crop of heavyweights running around. Klitschko is still a force and listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers, watching the light show, and watching the fireworks just gets my blood flowing.
I don’t care what anyone says, I love Klitschko and I love heavyweight title fights, and for excitement they cant be beat. Well with that being said that’s get to the actual fight.
For the pre-fight buildup I noticed that Eddie Chambers has a 50 percent knock out rate. None are against top opponents but everyone (including me) rag on him about his lack of pop but that rate suggests otherwise.
Round 1
Klitschko immediately had the jab in Chambers face and kept it there for most of the round. He landed a good right hand or two but nothing major. Chambers darted in and out like he wanted to and did a lot of body work.
In a mental move Chambers did pick up Klitschko off his feet to say I may be smaller but I am not weaker. This was a very active first round for Klitschko.
Round 2
Much of the same, as Klitschko landed the jab in his face constantly and landed some good rights. He almost knocked Chambers down late with a huge straight right.
Chambers literally picked up Klitschko and slammed him early in the round. He also took him off his feet to survive the huge right hand. Chambers had some success but not much.
Round 3
Again much of the same as Chambers was eating jab after jab through his guard. He is keeping his hands up but is offering no head movement which is killing him. Klitschko again landed a solid right with about 1:40 left in the round.
To Chambers credit he did recover well but he still lost the round fairly wide. He did land a nice counter right but nothing more. He was down three rounds already. Chambers looks like his old self now by making the other man miss but not throwing punches back.
Round 4
Shaping up as a typical Klitschko fight as Chambers can’t get inside that piston like jab. Klitschko is landing his patented left jab right hand combo again and again. When Chambers did get inside, which was not often, he was immediately tied up.
Chambers was having little success getting inside and even less success hitting Klitschko. Chambers was easily down four rounds to none.
Round 5
There was a lot of grappling to start the round and the first thirty seconds was nothing but hugging. Klitschko did pick it up a bit but didn’t land anything real significant in the next minute or so.
The middle or the round it fell back into the same pattern as the first four rounds. It seemed that most of Klitschko’s big shots were landing on Chambers gloves. Chambers was showing some wear and tear on his face by now and seemed to be slowing down.
Round 6
At this point, it was totally obvious that Chambers was pulling a Joshua Clottey and was just not willing to take chances to win this fight. He sat behind his guard and let punches bounce off them while he offered almost nothing in return.
His corner was yelling at him to throw some punches and not let his hard work go to waste. He was down by six rounds at this point.
Round 7
Jab, jab, jab, jab, right. Chambers can’t stop it and he is getting manhandled at this point. With about 1:42 left in the round Klitschko landed a good jab right combo. He landed another good right at 1:32 and another at 1:25.
He had Chambers on the ropes more this round than before and it appeared Chambers was tiring. With 52 seconds left, Klitschko landed another nice right, and another at :40. Klitschko seemed to be taking total control of the fight.
Not only his Klitschko beating Chambers badly but his corner is giving him an ear beating after every round. At this point it was clear that Chambers didn’t have the physical tools to win this fight.
Round 8
Another solid right hand was landed at the 2:30 mark of this round. Chambers was opening up just a little bit more, but that’s not saying much. Klitschko landed another thudding right at the 1:40ish mark.
Klitschko landed another big right at the 45 second mark that seemed to bother Chambers. At this point it is clear why Klitschko is considered the number one heavyweight in the world. He is making the No. 1 contender look like a total amateur.
Round 9
During the rounds you can hear Chambers corner yelling at the top of their lungs to try and give their man some hope. So far it has not helped at all.
Dr. Steelhammer lands another solid combo at the midway point of this round. I can not remember Chambers landing a meaningful head shot all fight. He was hasn’t won a round and probably hasn’t won a second of this fight.
Round 10
There was a slight delay before this round at Chambers needed to get his glove changed because it had split open. Klitschko wonders around the ring and gets a huge cheer from the crowd. The delay was around two or three minutes.
You can clearly see in his corner that Chambers face is heavily marked up. Chambers appeared to have more hop in his step after the slight break. The crowd urged Klitschko on, and he attempted to put something together for about 30 seconds and then got back to his jab.
It was obvious that Klitschko was content to win on points, and Chambers wanted to last until the final bell. Steward got all over Klitschko and told him to punch because “You don’t need another bad report, this is another Ibragimov.”
Round 11
The crowd again urged Klitschko to make a move and try to grab a knock out but nothing really came of it. This was the same as rounds 1-10 and Chambers was down 11 rounds to none at this point.
Steward ripped Klitschko again about not throwing punches, and you can tell that he was really pissed. Klitschko fires back in an angry tone that “I’m trying man, I’ll try.” Steward responds with “You don’t need another bullshit decision.”
Round 12
Klitschko did rev it up early while Chambers ran like Steward predicted. After a minute or so it fell back into the same patter until Klitschko landed a good right midway through. He tried to follow up but couldn’t end it.
He was throwing wild shots just trying to get Chambers out of there. He landed a solid left at 51 seconds but was only throwing one punch at a time. Klitschko totally knocks Chambers out cold with a stunning left hand at 2:55 of the final round.
He landed another left while Chambers was going down but it was academic at that point. Chambers stayed down awhile but was talking and appeared to be okay. An otherwise dull fight ended in dramatic fashion.
Klitschko would of won this fight 12 rounds to none but he scored the huge KO. I suggest you try and find this knock out in the coming days on YouTube.
I was just about to give up on the heavyweight division until Klitschko landed a HUGE left hand to the face of Eddie Chambers. That's why I love the heavyweight division.
NOTES:
Jonathon Banks did his best Klitschko impression as he was very unimpressive until scoring a knock out of Travis Walker in the 6th round. Another KO I suggest you look up as he landed one shot to end the fight.
It was also odd as Banks slipped and fell and Walker had a delayed reaction and fell second but was the one who was really knocked out. Banks won the NABf title with the win.
Loved when Genaro Rodriguez told Klitschko and Chambers that he isnt their mama. Nice little touch Genaro.
