San Francisco 49ers 2010 NFl Draft Possibilities:: 1 Pick From January?
The San Francisco 49ers finished the 2009 NFL season with an 8-8 record, but there is a ton of optimism in Niner camp and many critics believe the Niners are the front runner to win the NFC west with all other NFC west rivals either rebuilding or losing key players. Equipped with arguably the best defensive player in the league in Patrick Willis and returning almost everyone on both sides of the ball, the Niners may be one player away from ending their playoff draft. Here are some options the Niners may consider in the first round considering their needs:
Trent Williams: Offensive Tackle. Oklahoma. 6'5 315

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Niners finished 27th in overall offense in 2009 despite the emergence of Vernon Davis and the progess of Michael Crabtree. If the Niners have any hope of returning to the post season, they must get better up front in order to protext Alex Smith and give Frank Gore a big body to run behind. Trent Williams was a consensus all-american and is a nasty run blocker who also does well in pass protection. If drafted, Williams brings SF closer to being a smash mouth team that Mike Singletary desires.
Anthony Davis: Offensive Tackle. Rutgers. 6'5 323
Heres another guy who has potential to be a Pro Bowl Left Tackle for many years to come. He would protect the right side with the ability to slide to the left side if needed. The problem with Davis is he has the tendency to gain weight, so he will have to be watched to make sure he doesnt blow up. Singletary has the ability to motivate his players and I believe can do the same with Davis is drafted by SF.
C.J Spiller: Running Back. Clemson. 5'11 196
I have never been a fan of taking a running back in the 1st round and Glen Coffee is a viable back, but not a burner. Spiller would bring a dynamic to the Niner offense that they havent seen in a long time. Frank Gore is a down hill kind of guy, but not a home run hitter kind of back. Gore also is a guy every year who gets dinged up and misses 1-2 games every year. Spiller would provide a spark in the return game and give SF a change of pace back that is a threat to score every time the ball is in his hands.
Joe Haden: Defensive Back. Florida. 5'11 193
If there was one guy who the Niners were happy to see his stock tumbke a little, his name was Joe Haden. His 4.6 40 has potentially knocked him out of the top ten, but his game film proved Haden to be a star in a Florida secondary who will all be playing on Sundays soon. Haded was asked to defend the best receivers in arguably the best conference in the country and did a tremendous job defending WRs like Julio Jones and AJ Green. With good size and the physical tools to be a shut down corner, the Niners may say hello to this gator.
Taylor Mays: Safety. Southern California. 6'3 230
This guy is a freak of nature. He looks like he should be fighting on Spartacus rather than playing football. At the combine, he posted a an official time of 4.43, fastest of all secondary participants. Mays is a big time hitter and has the speed to make plays all over the field, but must learn not to try and go for the knock out hit every play. If drafted by SF, Mays can bring a presence to Niners they havent had since another safety out of Southern California by the name of Ronnie Lott was drafted.
Earl Thomas: Safety. Texas. 5'10 208
Undersized, but an fantastic open-field tackler, Thomas would team up with Dashon Goldson to make a solid young safety tandem. Thomas is solid at fillng the box and stopping run plays. The knock on Thomas is he is undersized and may be pushed around by bigger receivers at the next level, but theres a guy in Indianapolis named Bob Sanders who is 5'8 and does the job pretty good.
Other potential considerations
Bryan Bulaga: Offensive Tackle. Iowa. 6'5 314
Mike Iupati: Offensive Guard. Idaho. 6'5 331
Brandon Graham. Defensive end/outside linebacker. Michigan. 6'1 268
If the Niners can address their needs in with the first round with 2 picks, they can then take luxury picks in the next few rounds, such as a burner (Dexter McCluster), a future ILB for the future (Brandon Spikes), or a pass rusher (Jerry Hughes). Maybe even a guy whos last name rhymes with rebow. Nonetheless, the Niners are close to making a playoff push and with one of these picks, it may be what they need to accomplish their goal.
