The NFL Speculator: What If Change Of Scenery Works For Delhomme?
I just got done reading a "Delhomme to the Browns" article here on BR, and read the comments: most thought the move was dumb, but a few liked it.
Now, I can see why some would think the move was dumb...after all, the team has Eric Mangini to contend with!
But Mike Holmgren is not Mangini. In fact, the guy is rather smart. I thought Seneca Wallace would be a good change of pace for the Brownies. For one thing, while he doesn't have a winning record for Seattle, at least he isn't mistake prone and seems to be a pretty good game manager.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
And, as everyone knows, Delhomme hasn't seemed to have recovered from that Cardinals playoff loss in the 2008-09 season. Delhomme, in fact, was downright tearful when he found out he was cut by the Panthers.
That's because Delhomme is a bit thin skinned but believes he is starter caliber. Yet after 2009 there was no way the Panthers were gonna keep him, let alone start him.
Still, what about 2008, and what about 2005-06, when he took the Panthers to the Super Bowl? That has to count for something.
Which is why maybe a change of city like Cleveland would be great for the Jake.
It isn't too often that a QB has improved seasons when he goes to another team, yet Drew Brees seems to have had nothing but success since leaving San Diego for New Orleans. And it isn't too often that proven QBs can turn a losing team around as the new guy, yet isn't that what Chad Pennington did in 2008?
All he needs to get over 2009 with the Panthers is to be warmly welcomed in Cleveland by the Browns....and the Browns fans, who I guess can be as merciless as anyone.
So, whatdaya say, Dawg Pound? Give the Jake a hardy handshake! Not a hardly one! Because he may be what your team really needs after all.
