Bills Sign Tackle Cornell Green....Is This Good Or Bad?
I'd like to think that the Buffalo Bills signing of right tackle free agent is a step in the right direction. But as usual, the red flags are a flyin'.
Granted, Green is a 10-year veteran, playing for Atlanta, the NY Jets, Tampa Bay and Oakland, his previous team the past three seasons.
The Bills need offensive line help desperately but is a soon-to-be 34-year-old the right move in rebuilding a young line?

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Green stands 6-6 and tips the scales at 315. A good size right tackle who started 12 games for the Raiders last season. He's been in 89 games in his 10-year career with 46 as a starter.
But is he worth $9 over the next three seasons? He's going to be 37 when his contract ends. Kind of old by NFL standards.
And ironically, he took over in Oakland for Langston Walker when he departed the Raiders to join the Bills.
Another red flag is the fact his was put on probation in May of 2009 when he was charged with domestic violence after striking the mother of his two children.
A veteran lineman is definitely needed. Green wants to be in Buffalo which is also a positive. He wants to be a leader and turn his life around.
I am willing to give him a chance, everyone deserves a second chance. And we need linemen. I am and will willing to give Michael Vick a second chance so why not Green?
But a bit of risk. He's going to be 34-year-old offensive lineman on a young, rebuilding unit somehow and it doesn't seem like a good fit.
But when you are the Bills, guess you have to take what you can get at this point. We know Buffalo is going to draft an offensive lineman most likely in the first round so some depth will help.
But at $3 million a season?
