TNA vs. WWE: The Monday Night Wars Begin Again!

John BetschelMar 8, 2010

Well, the time has finally come. Total Nonstop Action is going head-to-head with World Wrestling Entertainment, and people are wondering if TNA really has a chance, or if it will end up like WCW.

I decided to go to both WWE.com and TNAWrestling.com to see what each had in store for tonight’s show.

As you know, WWE is having Kriss Angel guest host tonight. Also, you have John Cena taking on Mr. McMahon, and Randy Orton is having a handicap match against both members of Legacy.

Also, The Undertaker is going to be on Raw tonight, so you know something is going to go down between him and Shawn Michaels after what happened last week, costing DX the unified tag belts against Show-Miz (obviously revenge for Michaels costing him the world title).

And you know that there is going to be some kind of face-to-face encounter between HHH and Sheamus with an announcement for a match between the two for Wrestlemania.

One thing that WWE.com didn’t have is a 10-minute video talking about how they are better than TNA on every level and blah blah blah. Why should they give free advertisement to a company with which they're going to war?

TNAwrestling.com did, however, have a 10-minute video with all their different wrestlers saying how they are better than the WWE and even had protectionists and directors saying how they were trying to tell people to watch TNA and not watch WWE.

After watching the video a few times, I wrote down a few quotes from different wrestlers and knockouts that I feel are complete bull-you-know-what and are an insult to the WWE and all their wrestlers.

Velvet Sky said, "There is a knockout here for every fan out there." That’s weird, because I thought TNA had gotten rid of half their knockout division, including their star knockout Awesome Kong.

Oh, wait, that's right—they did! The only knockouts they have left are The Beautiful people: Angelina Love, Tara, Daffney, and Taylor Wilde. They also still have Hamada, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they get rid of her soon either.

Robert Roode said that "people stopped watching wrestling." Now, if people had stopped watching wrestling, then you wouldn’t have people on here writing new articles every day about different things going on with both wrestling companies, even though it's mostly WWE. And WWE would have gone off the air if "people stopped watching wrestling."

Abyss said, "What makes TNA different from the competition is the sacrifices, the passion."

Really? WWE superstars don’t make sacrifices? They don't have passion? Last time I checked, they make sacrifices every day. The sacrifice they make being on the road almost 365 days a year, not able to spend time with their families. The blood, sweat, and tears.

People like John Cena. Though I may not like him, I respect the hell out of him for the passion that he brings to the ring and to every match he has. HHH has torn both quadriceps, Edge tore his Achilles heel, and they didn’t just do that to say, "Hey, let's see how bad I can injure myself tonight."

It involves both passion and sacrifice. The injuries happen because of the passion they put into each match, as well as the moves they do and the bumps they take sacrificing their bodies.

James Storm said that "as far as in-ring talent, TNA blows them away." First off, most of the talent in TNA came from WWE. And if it wasn’t for those superstars, TNA wouldn’t even still exist. They got the X-Division with a lot of talented wrestlers—I'll give them that—but as far as heavyweight competitors go, WWE has TNA beat.

WWE has The Big Show, HHH, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Batista, John Cena, Kane, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, The Great Khali, and CM Punk.

TNA has Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, and Abyss, and that’s really about it, so you do the math.

Daniels said, "Everything they do is for the benefit of this company and the benefit of professional wrestling."

So getting rid of half your knockouts, bringing in two guys who were possibly responsible for taking down a entire company (WCW), and making all kinds of changes like not using the X-division properly, changing the ring which was the only thing that made them different from WWE, and having two geezers like Hogan and Flair who can barely stand come out of retirement and wrestle?

That’s benefiting the company and professional wrestling? DON'T THINK SO!

And, last but not least, Abyss said, "TNA has all the top talent right now."

I once again go back to all the arguments I made earlier about how half the wrestlers on the TNA roster were former WWE employers: Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, Scott Hall, Syxx Pac, The Pope D' Angelo Deniro, Mr. Anderson, Christy Hemme, Tara, Matt Morgan, Brian Kendrick, Mick Foley, Orlando Jordan, Tomko, Jeff Jarrett, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair.

So, as I said before, it's safe to say that if it weren't for WWE, there would be no TNA.

But with all that said, it will be interesting to see how TNA will fare against the WWE, and only time will tell.
