Victory Lane Prediction Sure To Go Wrong: Las Vegas
After watching the qualifying for this weekend's Shelby American race at Las Vegas, I have decided to make a weekly segment; a prediction sure to go wrong, before each race.
In the past I have done the top five finishers before each race, but I think picking one driver to win will be much more entertaining, especially because I don't expect to get any of them correct.
If for some reason I do get one correct, I just might have to change the title, but so far this year, I have selected Kurt Busch to win Daytona, and Juan Montoya to win in California, and we all know how those ended up.
For this Sunday's race at Las Vegas, I am putting my money on the home town guy. No, not the pole sitter, but his brother, one "Rowdy" Busch. Although I admit I have never really liked him, I appreciate the type of driver he is, and what he means to the sport.
Looking at Kyle's last five races here at Las Vegas, he has the best average finish, which is fifth. In fact, he has only finished out of the top ten one time in the last five years, and that was an 11th place finish in 2008.
Kyle finished second in 2005, and third in 2006 before finally getting over the hump and winning last year.
While repeating is a tall order, if anyone can do it (besides JJ), it is Kyle Busch. The entire Joe Gibbs Racing team has performed well here, with Denny Hamlin having three top ten's in four attempts, while second-year driver Joey Logano looks to improve on his 13th place finish of a year ago.
Kyle will be starting fifth, inside of teammate Joey Logano. Kyle looked good in practice, and certainly knows his way around this track.
So with the official inaugural Victory Lane Prediction Sure to Go Wrong, I have selected Kyle Busch for Sunday's event in Las Vegas.
