Team Canada Announces Olympic Roster
Team Canada’s Executive Director Steve Yzerman unveiled the much-anticipated roster for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. While there will be inevitable chatter about those who didn’t make the squad and players who made the team who shouldn’t, Yzerman will ice Canada’s best chance on bringing home the gold.
All three netminders hail from le Provence de Quebec. Roberto Luongo, Martin Brodeur, and Marc-Andre Fleury are all solid choices and it will be interesting to see who gets a bulk of the playing time. All three are elite goalies in the NHL and will give Canada every possible chance to win.

Defensemen named to the squad are seasoned veterans such as Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger (named captain and alternate captain, respectively) and upcoming stars including Drew Doughty along with Chicago Blackhawks tandem Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook.
Up front, Team Canada boasts some serious firepower, including Sidney Crosby, Jonathon Towes, Dany Heatley, and Jarome Iginla to name a few. The San Jose Sharks are sending their top line of Joe Thornton, Heatly, Patrick Marleau and arguably their best defensemen in Dan Boyle.
The United States will announce their roster during the Winter Classic tomorrow, January 1, when The Philadelphia Flyers take on the Boston Bruins at Fenway Park.
