Podcast: "UT Song" Writer Larry Hargrove Talks Texas Longhorns Football

Larry Hargrove is an entertainer who created such songs as "Leave Clinton Alone" and "The Obama Train." Based out of Austin, Texas, he is an avid Texas Longhorns fan and wrote a song at the beginning of the year about the team called the "UT Football Song." It's very catchy and has a deep '70s disco vibe to it!
After we talked to him about the history of the song, we talked to him as a Texas fan about the upcoming national championship game. We discussed the comparisons of this team and the 2005 UT championship team. Hargrove pointed out that they enter the game as the underdog and their quarterback, Colt McCoy, was passed over for the Heisman, just as Vince Young was on the 2005 team.
Hargrove also shared his belief that if Texas wins the national championship, Mack Brown will retire. We asked him how he felt watching the Big 12 championship game; he said that while most people bite their nails, he was levitating because he was so enthralled!
Finally, he said he thinks UT will win, but the fans don't need to be "fair weather."
If you want to talk to Hargrove about his song or anything else Texas, you can contact him on his Web site (www.larryhargrove.com), e-mail (larryhargrove@yahoo.com), or phone (512-762-3590).
After our interview with Hargrove, Foss and Rees talked further about the comparisons of the 2005 and 2009 Texas teams.
