Auburn Football: Gene Chizik Era: Recruiting Update
It is that time when there is very little to do. Auburn is busy preparing for the Outback Bowl. It is a good time to take a look and see where we stand as compared to our major competetion.
A complete list of recruits committed and information on most of them can be found at this web site. This is the most detailed list of Auburn recruits I have found anywhere and is available at no cost at this site.
There have been a couple of changes since this was updated. Antonio Goodwin did not decommit. Or at least he changed his mind and recommitted. This is good as he is a truly gifted athlete. Information on him can be found at this site:
Chris Davis an athlete that can play many positions and is a prolific returner, with great field vision, and elusiveness from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham committed. Information on him can be found here:
Chris Davis is really exciting for me. I have had the opportunity of watching him play. His speed is listed as a 4.45 40 yard sprint. I can say for certain this is conservative. He is an excellent Basketball player as well. There is no defender in the SEC that has his kind of speed. He is one of the best natural returners I have ever watched. I expect him to play Corner Back and return kicks and punts at Auburn. He is not rated on Scouts, Rivals or any other service yet. There is footage of him as a sophomore on recruiting sites and U Tube. This commit gives Auburn a sure handed returner that is extremely dangerous and will make an immediate impact.

I expect good news on two and possibly three more highly ranked recruits in the next seven days.
Auburn is currently at 23 commits and will up that number within the week. Auburn has all the pieces of the puzzle at this point. The nice thing about this class is we have quality like 300lbs Offensive Linemen that run sub 5.0 40 yard sprints. Not one but all of them. Defensive ends that run Sub 4.6 40 yard sprints. Defensive Tackles that run sub 5.0 40 yard sprints. Line Backers that run sub 4.5 40 yard sprints.
This might not seem important to most, but it puts Auburn as a blindingly fast team even for the SEC. This is a huge advantage on defense and offense. Expect this class to have an immediate positive effect on offense and defense.
Auburn is still in good shape with two 5 star running backs and several linemen. There are still some Cornerbacks that have not committed. This is a truly incredible group of talented young men that fit into our current team like a glove. We will have that depth next season.
Auburn already has experienced replacements for every senior graduating. Auburn now has depth at every position. While some of these recruits will be red shirted, the majority will be playing upon arrival. The Auburn coaching staff has the depth to rotate and keep fresh every position. Injuries should no longer bring us to our knees. The intensity and aggressiveness of the offense and defense will be elevated. There will be no fall off in talent when a starter is substituted for rest.
The time for anxiety over our recruiting class is past. It is now time to marvel in the astonishing talent we have coming to our team, and enjoying with amazement as even more commit. We can do this in full knowledge that both our offense and defense will allow for immediate playing time for us to see the talent of our new players.
Jessel Curry and Craig Sanders have signed with the Auburn Tigers today Dec. 16, 2009. Here are some links to player statistics:
There are more coming, I will update this article with future signers.
Roszell Gayden has signed with Auburn. He is number three to sign that will count toward the 2009 class and leave 25 slots for this season.
Brandon Mosley has signed with the Auburn Tigers this is number four of the early signers. Only one slot left toward last years class.
