Week 14 NFL Power Rankings: Indianapolis Colts On Top

john timberDec 8, 2009

NFL Power Rankings for Week 14 have been released.

1. Indianapolis Colts (12-0 SU, 8-4 ATS)

Beating the Patriots on a bad play call by Uncle Bill wasn’t enough. Now they’ve disrupted the Titans’ momentum and tied New England’s regular-season win record. Think they can bump it up one more against Denver?

Next Game: Denver vs. Indianapolis (-7.5)

2. New Orleans Saints (12-0 SU, 8-4 ATS)

I know a lot of people say that Saints are the best team in football, and I can’t really argue with their numbers (which is the main reason everyone hates math) but consider their opponents and their schedule. The only playoff contenders they’ve polished off are New England (at home), New York Giants (right before they slumped), Miami (great win) and Philadelphia (without McNabb). Shouldn’t the “best team” in football be beating bigger teams? Not their fault, but a weak schedule and games like the one against the Redskins should have you worried about the Saints carrying their momentum through the playoffs.

Next Game: New Orleans vs. Atlanta

3. Cincinnati Bengals (9-3 SU, 6-6 ATS)

Ironically, as good as the Bengals are, they’ve only played one other division leader, which was their Week 1 loss to Denver off of that crazy Stokley touchdown. Think they’re in the mood to right the wrongs of the past against Minnesota?

Next Game: Cincinnati vs. Minnesota (-7)

4. Minnesota Vikings (10-2 SU, 7-4-1 ATS)

What concerns you more: Favre throwing two picks on the road, or Adrian Peterson tied for second in the league with 6 fumbles?

Next Game: Cincinnati vs. Minnesota (-7)

5. San Diego Chargers (9-3 SU, 6-6 ATS)

LaDanian passed the great Jim Brown on the all-time rushing list in the same amount of years that Brown played pro football. The salute to Brown was a grand gesture by LDT, but it would’ve been much cooler if Tomlinson gave him the Gino chin swipe causing Brown to storm down to the field like it was the WWE, with chair in hand and Gus Johnson going absolutely ballistic. “Here comes the LEGEND JIM BROWN AND HE’S GOT A STEEEEL CHAAAAIIIRRRR!” That would’ve been awesome television.

Next Game: San Diego vs. Dallas (-3)

6. Denver Broncos (8-4 SU/ATS)

No team this season enjoys playing when nobody believes more than the Broncos. Well, Kyle Orton’s probably used to playing with people not believing in him…but this time around he’s winning games.

Next Game: Denver vs. Indianapolis (-7.5)

7. Green Bay Packers (8-4 SU, 7-4-1 ATS)

The Packers used prime time to show off their defense and a passing game that throttled the Ravens’ depleted secondary. Green Bay is just one of those sneaky teams. Every time I think Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Grant can’t get it done, I’m reminded of the fact Rodgers is 5th in the league in passing yards and Grant’s 8th in the league in rushing yards and is the only starting tailback with zero fumbles this season.

Next Game: Green Bay vs. Chicago

8. Philadelphia Eagles (8-4 SU, 7-5 ATS)

Reid’s used Vick 24-times this season, and thought it best to unleash him against the team, and a city, he single handedly decimated. Classless. Utterly classless…but about par for Andy Reid.

Next Game: Philadelphia vs. NYG (-1)

9. New England Patriots (7-5 SU, 6-6 ATS)

The Patriots really have to stop trying to run or throw on fourth down. It’s cost them two games now.

Next Game: Carolina vs. New England (-13)

10. Arizona Cardinals (8-4 SU/ATS)

Kurt Warner didn’t beat Brett Favre just because he’s two-years younger. He had a 12th man on that field that Brett didn’t: Jesus.

Next Game: Arizona (-3) vs. San Francisco
