Q and A with a Knicks Blog
I had the great pleasure of doing a Q and A with Lives from Knicks Fanatics . We touch on all of the usual questions that a West coaster might have for an East coaster. For my answers to his questions , head over to Knicks Fanatics . Also, they will be hosting a live chat tonight, so head over during the game to see Knicks fans and Blazer fans coexist. For now, here's what Lives had to say about the Knickerbockers:
Bust a Bucket: The Knicks appear to be struggling this year, Chris Duhon has looked awful offensively. Is the D'Antoni offense working for this team right now? What is missing to make things really click?
Knicks Fanatics: Chris Duhon has performed poorly this season, but the reality is that he is not the right guard for this system and it was revealed last year after quality teams started to take away his pick and roll options. There are many issues with Duhon who actually has the skill to be a decent NBA back up for a lengthy career. However, he is a half-court guard who automatically slows down the pace. He plays better if he has someone sharing ballhandling duties like Jay Williams (Duke) or Larry Hughes (Knicks) He also tends to make poor decisions with the ball as he does not have the greatest court vision in the uptempo.
For example, although he likes keeping his dribble as he curls in the paint as his pick and roll target gets free, he will often prematurely just dump the ball in the paint without a teammate being near the ball.
Finally, although he is not as good as they pretended he would be, he is not as bad as he has been playing. He probably needed a hug after watching the Knicks wade through free agency to find his replacement, only to be rejected by Jason Kidd and unable to reach agreement with other guards such as Jason Williams and Ramon Sessions because it interfered with their cap space odyssey.
