The Final BCS Bowl Schedule Released
It is Sunday Night and FOX has released the matchups for the BCS.
National Championship, January 7th
(No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 2 Texas)
We could have banked on this matchup as soon as the Big Twelve Championship Game ended. Boy, how things would have changed if Nebraska had held on.
Rose Bowl, January 1st
(No. 7 Oregon vs. No. 8 Ohio State)
This game was determined on Thursday when Oregon won a thriller against Oregon State. These two teams will matchup well in a traditional Rose Bowl.
Orange Bowl, January 1st
(No. 9 Georgia Tech vs. No. 10 Iowa)
The Fiesta Bowl passed on taking a Big Ten team and the Orange Bowl benefited. Georgia Tech, which completed an exciting victory over Clemson last night, should be slightly favored.
Fiesta Bowl, January 3rd
(No. 4 TCU vs. No. 6 Boise State)
Boise State is coming back to the BCS and the Fiesta Bowl. Their opponent is not perennial Championship-contender Oklahoma, but TCU boasts one of the most balanced squads this year.
Sugar Bowl, January 5th
(No. 3 Cincinnati vs. No. 5 Florida)
Cincinnati succeeded in jumping TCU in the final BCS by the skin of a missed PAT. Perhaps the Florida offense can score some points on this Big East defense.
Conclusion
We will end up with two undefeated teams at the end of the season, both probably ending up in the Top Three. If Cincinnati defeats Florida as well, then all three of the top teams will be undefeated.
The Texas-Alabama game will determine a consensus champion but not an undisputed champion. The winners of the Fiesta and Sugar bowls will want their due; and, if TCU defeats Boise State, we might see Orrin Hatch return to Capitol Hill with a vengeance.
