EVANS AND SILVA GO TO WAR
The UFC's light heavy weight division carries some of the stiffest competition in the mma world to date; employing fighters such as Forrest Griffin, Rampage Jackson, Shogun Rau, and Chuck Liddell. However there are two fighters in general whose records show their dominant stance over the light heavy weight division, Rashad Evans, and Thiago Silva. Evans with an outstanding 18-1-1 record, and Silva close behind at 14-1 with their lone losses to the current champ Lyoto " The Dragon" Machida.Come January 2nd at UFC 108 the two will finally meet face to face to see who will continue to climb to the top of the light heavy weight division, and possibly take on the one man who denied them victory in the octagon.
Rashad Evans has had an amazing career thus far. Carrying with him a 9-1 record in the UFC alone, but many fans believe Machida has paved the path for the end of the dominate Suga Rashad. The trick was unlocking the holes in his striking game and finally showing how to control the fight by not letting Evans' use his demeanor to get inside his opponent's head. Therefore taking a slight advantage away from Evans. Don't get me wrong Rashad is power house in this division, and has many more tools at his disposal to compete with any fighter thrown in front of him.
If there is a fighter in this organization that can capitalize on the blueprint left by Machida it would have to be Thiago Silva; an aggressive striker from Sao Palo,Brazil with a level attitude and mind set to fight the best of the best . Silva's record in the UFC is nothing to be overlooked, standing at 5-1 in the UFC alone he has defeated fighters such as James "Sandman" Irvin, Houston Alexander, and Rashad's friend and training partner Keith Jardine, all in the first round. Even though, Silva has an aggressive standup game don't think that Rashad's wrestling will overwhelm the Brazilian. He is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and is more than able to summit his opponent within his gaurd or any where else the fight may go.
On January 2nd in Las Vegas Evans, and Silva will step into the octagon and battle it out for a chance to redeem themselves against the "The Dragon". Dont look for this fight to go to decision. This will be an all out war that will hopefully revive the UFC's main event status. Personally I'm going to call Thiago Silva victorious in the 2nd round by technical knockout, but then again I've been wrong before. BUT I DOUBT IT !!!!!!!!!!!!
