Clark Judge: Judgments (CBS Sportsline)
"Philadelphia can exhale. Not only did the Eagles survive Washington; defensive end Juqua Parker could have — no, should have — been called for a personal foul when he body-slammed Jason Campbell on Washington’s last snap.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Again, I am not one to blame any losses purely on officiating, and I don’t here either. To me, the Redskins 27-24 loss is on the head of Zorn/Lewis/Smith for the conservative play calling towards the end of the game after Justin Tryon’s interception. Not once did the Redskins remotely even try to score, which would have been the dagger to the throat of Philadelphia.
However, is it just me or has there been a downgrade in the quality of officiating in the 2009 season? The missed call was atrocious. There are calls made on roughing the QB that should not be made because pass rushers are in motion and can not stop. This was blatant. How was it missed? Was the NFL protecting Philadelphia instead?
John Clayton: Last Call (ESPN)
You can read it yourself by clicking the link above. Clayton speaks on Donovan McNabb’s leadership at the end. Before Donovan gets too high on his individual leadership, perhaps he should first give thanks in this Holiday season to a mindless and gutless Redskins offensive game plan and play calling. If Sherman Lewis or Jim Zorn were real NFL coaches, they would have gone for the gold after the Tryon interception instead of 3 meaningless run plays and playing for the field goal.
For some reason, the culture of philosophy of play to NOT lose instead of play to win, has escaped the Washington Redskins franchise for a very long time and that completely perplexes me.
Perhaps, if Dan Snyder indeed wants to fix the franchise, if step one is to hire a real, professional GM, step two should be to hire a head coach with a killer instinct, something Washington has not seen in a very long time.
Another question for Zorn,/Lewis/Smith — even with this offensive line, why not go for the kill? This team was 3-7 going NO WHERE. What was there possibly to lose? [Read more →]
