WWE and AEW Wrestlers Who Can Get Any Opponent over with Fans

Donald WoodNov 5, 2021

One of the most integral parts of professional wrestling is getting over with fans, an art form that several of the top names in All Elite Wrestling and WWE have perfected over the years.

In WWE, there is no one better at getting people over than multi-time champion Becky Lynch, while MJF and Malakai Black have made their names in AEW getting other performers over as much as they get themselves over with the viewers.

Here are the WWE and AEW wrestlers who can get any opponent over with wrestling fans.

MJF

The best heel in all of wrestling right now is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, AKA MJF. When he grabs the microphone, wrestling fans listen to hear him tear down their city and their favorite performers.

While MJF's words can be brutally honest, he knows how to get his challengers over with the crowd. It's hard to be a good heel these days, but he says all the wrong things to ensure those in attendance and at home detest his character.

As a performer garnering legitimate heat from viewers, anyone who challenges MJF will instantly be embraced as a babyface. Most fans may enjoy MJF for his ability on the mic and in the ring, but they don't want to cheer for him in storylines since he comes across as a total jerk.

Whether it's Darby Allin, Brian Pillman Jr., Sammy Guevara or any of the other talented wrestlers who have stepped to MJF, each has exited the storylines with more credibility among the fanbase.

Becky Lynch

WWE Creative has done Becky Lynch no favors since her return from hiatus, but her gravitas as one of the biggest stars in the business makes every person who steps in the ring with her more popular with the WWE Universe.

Bianca Belair may have lost the title to Lynch in mere seconds—a decision that shouldn't have been made—but she has been elevated in the following weeks by working with someone as popular with hardcore and casual fans alike.

Lynch has shown her ability to put herself, her opponent and their match over on the mic, as well as helping elevate a challenger through her stellar in-ring prowess.

The combination of fan support, being comfortable in the role of top dog, mic ability and in-ring work has made her beloved by fans. Whether it's a member of the Four Horsewomen or the freshest face from NXT, Lynch has become great at getting them over with the fans.

Malakai Black

One of the reasons Malakai Black is so successful is that he puts a high focus on building up his challengers, which makes him look even better when he defeats them.

Instead of talking down to his opponents and diminishing their accomplishments, Black highlights all of the things that make his challengers elite. If the crowd believes the man standing across the ring can beat him, it makes Black look even better if he steals the win as the dastardly heel.

On the other hand, if Black takes the loss, his challenger looks even stronger. With an unselfish attitude, the Dutch striker can make his opponents look special in the ring and appear elite on the microphone.

When AEW signed Black, they found a star who values getting his opponents over as much as himself. Just ask Dante Martin, Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson.
