Kentucky Derby 2020 Contenders: Horse Pedigree and Jockey Info for Top Favorites
While the post draw took place for the 2020 Kentucky Derby on Tuesday, that wasn't the only news to emerge for this year's annual Run for the Roses. That's because one of the early favorites and expected top challengers to Belmont Stakes winner Tiz the Law won't be taking part in Saturday's race.
Art Collector will miss the Derby due to a left front heel injury. So, that's one less strong contender that Tiz the Law will need to beat as he looks to continue his quest for the Triple Crown.
Although Art Collector is no longer in the field, there are still some strong horses who will be running. And Tiz the Law, who will be in the No. 17 post, is starting in between the two horses who will likely be his biggest challengers: Honor A. P. (No. 16) and Authentic (No. 18).
Here's a look at the full post lineup and current odds for the race, along with trainer and jockey info for each of the 18 horses who will be running.

Tiz the Law (3-5)
Only one New York-bred horse has won the Kentucky Derby in the past. That was Funny Cide in 2003, a horse who was trained by Barclay Tagg, who also trains Tiz the Law.
After winning the Belmont Stakes in June, Tiz the Law is looking to become the 14th horse to win the Triple Crown, although he'd be the first to do so by winning the three races in this order, after the schedule was amended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The colt is a son of Constitution, who never competed in a Triple Crown race but had four career wins, including a victory at the 2014 Florida Derby. His career has started in impressive fashion, as he's won six of his first seven career starts, including the Travers Stakes on August 8.
Tagg's lone win at the Derby was with Funny Cide 17 years ago, and he went on to win the Preakness Stakes with him that same year. However, those were Tagg's only victories in Triple Crown races before Tiz the Law was victorious at this year's Belmont.
Jockey Manny Franco is back on board the three-year-old after riding him to victory at the Belmont Stakes, and he'll be looking to win the Kentucky Derby for the first time.
Franco is only 25, but he's been a professional jockey since 2013, so he has a good bit of experience. And with a horse as strong as Tiz the Law, he could be on the verge of history already.
Honor A. P. (5-1)
At 55, Mike Smith will look to become the oldest jockey to win the Kentucky Derby when he rides Honor A. P. on Saturday. The veteran has a ton of experience and past success, which makes Honor A. P. a top contender to potentially upset Tiz the Law.
Smith is a two-time Kentucky Derby winner, notching victories on Giacomo (2005) and Justify (2018), the latter of whom he rode in all three of his Triple Crown wins that year. He'll now look to win while riding Honor A. P., who is a son of Honor Code (a six-time winner during his racing career from 2013-15).
Trainer John Shirreffs is also a former Derby winner, as he trained Giacomo in 2005. That's the only time that he has won a Triple Crown race, so he'll be hoping to change that with Honor A. P. on Saturday.
Honor A. P. didn't race in the Belmont Stakes, and he doesn't have a ton of racing experience yet. He's made five career starts, including three this year, and finished first or second in all of them. His last victory came at the Santa Anita Derby in June, and he finished second at the Shared Belief Stakes on August 1.
Authentic (8-1)
One of two Bob Baffert-trained horses in this year's Kentucky Derby field, Authentic could be the one to get him his record-tying sixth career Run for the Roses.
The only trainer to win the Kentucky Derby six times is Ben Jones, but Baffert has had five victories: Silver Charm (1997), Real Quiet (1998), War Emblem (2002), American Pharoah (2015) and Justify (2018).
American Pharoah and Justify were both Triple Crown winners, and while Baffert won't achieve that feat this year, he could win his sixth Derby if either Authentic or Thousand Words race to victory.
Authentic, a son of Into Mischief, has won four of his first five career races, including the Haskell Stakes in July. His only blemish is a second-place finish to Honor A. P. at the Santa Anita Derby in June, although he previously bested the same rival at the San Felipe Stakes in March.
Not only does Authentic have a legendary trainer, but he also has a two-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey in John Velazquez, who rode Animal Kingdom to victory in 2011 and Always Dreaming in 2017.
The 48-year-old is also a two-time Belmont Stakes champion, after winning on Rags to Riches in 2007 and Union Rags in 2012.
