Predicting WWE Survivor Series 2019 Match Results That Will Anger Fans
There was a time when WWE Survivor Series was one of the biggest pay-per-view nights of the year for wrestling, but it hasn't felt that way in recent years.
With the NXT invasion, though, there is a new level of excitement for the Thanksgiving time tradition.
Despite the fact WWE botched most of the build to Sunday's PPV following the SmackDown after Crown Jewel, fans are intrigued by several unique matchups never seen on the main roster before.
Unfortunately, however, the WWE Universe will be disappointed by the outcome of several Survivor Series bouts.
Brock Lesnar vs. Rey Mysterio
1 of 4There are few people on earth as legitimately scary as Brock Lesnar, and what the WWE champion did to Rey Mysterio and his son made for one of the wildest angles in the company this year.
After The Beast Incarnate went on to defeat the debuting Cain Velasquez at Crown Jewel, Mysterio now wants his chance at the champion.
Lesnar and The Master of the 619 have squared off only twice in singles competition during their careers, according to CageMatch.net, so the two men have the chance to create a bout that is truly unique.
The problem is that The Beast's recent history indicates this will be a short, one-sided squash that makes the veteran look weak.
In addition to the titleholder running through his competition lately, Mysterio has been booked poorly ever since fully returning to WWE in September 2018, so it's hard to imagine WWE Creative would give him the championship now.
Instead of a dream match, Lesnar vs. Mysterio will be a glorified squash.
5-on-5-on-5 Women's Survivor Series Elimination Match
2 of 4With as much female talent as WWE has signed to its Raw, SmackDown and NXT brands, the 15-woman elimination match should be one of the best on the card.
The problem is WWE has a long history of poor booking in multi-person matches, especially when all of the participants are women. The hope is that the sheer amount of skill in the bout will cover the inevitable porous booking, but that's likely wishing for too much.
Not only will wrestling fans have an issue with how many of the top stars in the company are treated in this meaningless match, but the booking of the actual bout itself will also likely result in this being one of the least interesting matches on the card.
Maybe WWE learned its lesson and this bout would actually showcase the vast amount of female talent on each of the company's brands. Then again, perhaps it will show the company is still behind the times.
Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan
3 of 4From an in-ring perspective, Daniel Bryan is one of the best technicians to ever perform, and he will be squaring off against one of the few true hoss battlers in wrestling today in the form of Bray Wyatt.
As seen every time these two Superstars get together, the match will be incredible.
No matter what, though, the problem will be the ending.
Few wrestlers have stirred up as much controversy from a character perspective than The Fiend since his debut earlier this year. With the ability to no-sell finishing move after finishing move, Wyatt has polarized fans with everything from his pain tolerance to the red lights during his matches.
Even with the fact Wyatt and Bryan will almost certainly put on a great match that tells an intriguing story in the ring for the Universal Championship, there will be fans who complain when The Fiend successfully retains his title.
The WWE Universe should just enjoy it instead of trying to find a reason to be outraged.
5-on-5-on-5 Men's Survivor Series Elimination Match
4 of 4One of the biggest problems with the 5-on-5-on-5 matches is that nothing is on the line. While there is no questioning the talent in the bout pitting Raw, SmackDown and NXT against each other, there is nothing at stake and no real story going into Sunday's PPV.
Despite the fact top stars such as Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman are involved, the WWE Universe isn’t overly excited about the bout and that's indicative of the poor writing.
Survivor Series matches can be some of the most exciting when booked correctly, but they have been mostly forgettable in recent years. While the talent is there to create memorable moments, this bout will be an afterthought by the end of the PPV.
While NXT should win to legitimize the invasion angle, SmackDown will inevitably win since the deal with Fox is the company's bread and butter.
