It's Official: Hulk Hogan Will Destroy TNA

The Doctor Chris MuellerNov 7, 2009

First off, this is the best picture of Hulk Pasta—er, Hogan I've ever seen, so I had to use it.

Since signing with TNA or Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Hulk Hogan has been all over the news and in the media saying he will shake things up in TNA and that his role is that of "The Boss."

While Hogan's knowledge and experience is irrefutable, his history says he may not make the best decisions. Hogan is considered by many to be one of the main reasons the WCW went down toward the end. His booking clauses in his contracts and his stroke backstage, made it so he and his buddies were always at the top and no one else got any spotlight.

Now the Hulkster is saying that he is going to "bring in his buddies" to TNA. By buddies I think we all know he means Jimmy Hart, Brian Knobs, Brutus Beefcake, and maybe even guys like Kevin Sullivan could be brought into the mix. But this recipe is what led to WCW being bought by what is now the only company with tons of exposure.

While Hulk's presence is sure to garner attention, it might not be the right attention. He is too old to wrestle even in a part-time role and he is not known as a great promoter by many he has worked with in the past. If Hogan is truly dedicated to making the TNA product better than WWE, he needs to realize that while his friends are wrestling legends, they are not businessman by any means.

Hogan has a long history with Sting, so I could see a legends match between the two of them, that they could have a huge draw. That could be a huge ratings grabber for on PPV. But other than Sting, who is there for Hogan to work with other than a much younger, faster, and in some cases stronger guys? I'm always surprised Nash has lasted this long for the same reason.

If Hogan's role is being exaggerated, then maybe his impact on Impact will be small (see how I did that there), but as for now, I feel that there is little to no chance that Hulk Hogan will elevate TNA to the same level as, or even the level right below, the WWE. At best he will make them WCW in 1993 and not WCW in 1997.

What's your opinion?
