Despite Baylor's Losses Piling Up, Bears Are Getting Better
Okay, so I was wrong about Baylor being destined to pick up that first conference win this past weekend against Nebraska (granted, my son still has yet to be born, but I doubt his birth would have instilled a BU victory).
Personally, I have readjusted my thoughts on this season’s Baylor football team and have decided to look at this year as a growing experience for this group of young and talented Bears.
It seems like every week, Baylor is getting better.
And that is really all fans can ask for from their team.
Baylor’s latest setback, a 20-10 loss to Nebraska, dropped the Bears to 0-4 in the Big 12 Conference with an extremely difficult road ahead.
But the Bears are growing together; they are learning together; and they are fighting together.
Basically, they are playing as a team, and that’s exactly what Baylor Head Coach Art Briles wants from them at this point and time in the season.
It’s going to be really difficult to pick up those three coveted conference wins to be bowl eligible, but I guarantee that is not the focus of the team right now.
Their focus, at least I hope, is just to get that FIRST Big 12 win, then take it from there.
Up next on the schedule for the Baylor Bears is a trip to Missouri (Saturday, Nov. 7), followed by a trio of intra-state rivalries: at home against Texas on Nov. 14, on the road against Texas A&M on Nov. 21, and in Arlington against Texas Tech on Nov. 28 to close out the season.
Briles’ Bears are continuing to improve, and the future looks bright for Baylor.
At 0-4 in conference play, the future is the best thing to look at right now, and with a healthy and re-energized Robert Griffin returning, the Bears are bound to be back for a fight next year.
But the season isn’t over, and until they are mathematically out of it, don’t look for the Bears to be rolling over and dying anytime soon…
